Idiocy Knows No Bounds...

Not crazy about the sexist undertones in some of the above posts. Cut it out. It offends my daughter and my 3 grand daughters. And, therefore, it offends me.

I support this sentiment (also the father of a young daughter). I am no fan of rampant political-correctness, but when being politically-correct aligns with treating people with basic decency, I will get on board. What if that was your wife/sister/daughter about whom such comments were being made?

Also, regardless of your opinion of ESPN, they are the most powerful name in sports media (and it is not even close). One does not rise to a position at such establishment without having a lot of talent and dedication. You don't need to like her work (or her employer), but the demeaning comments are pretty over the top, and when they seem to be made largely on the basis of her gender, that's not cool.

Just my two cents.

I am on board with this as well. It is not like Joey Galloway and Danny Kannell are dropping deep profound thoughts on us. Danny Kannell just chuckles through everything. Regardless of gender, Jon and Deace are correct it as if no one at ESPN is doing their homework or is capable of critical thinking.

It's all in fun guys. I wouldn't care at all if people said that stuff about my wife or daughter. They would either be joking or be complete d0uches. Why would a joke offend me and why would a complete ****** offend me?

I suppose, but it is a fine line. There is a lot of evidence that "microagressions," like telling jokes about under-represented groups (women in sports journalism being an example), perpetuates discrimination against said groups. And that jokes sexualizing women changes men's perception of sexual offenses (harassment, assault, etc.). There is also evidence that when people within the peer group of the microagressors say, "Not cool," that in many cases behavior stops. Just thought I would take a stab at being the "not cool" guy.

Offended? So what? I love this society where now if you are offended everyone must bow down to your sensitivities. Sorry, free country.

I don't think anyone is asking anyone else to bow to sensitivities. However, if you were doing something that you thought was all in fun, and you subsequently learned that someone was reasonably offended by it, common courtesy would suggest that you reconsider your initial actions. It is not about anyone being forced to act a certain way, it is about asking people to consider others when planning their actions. That's not so bad, right?

Lighten up peoples. No need to get all sensitive on everything
