I don't recall seeing this posted and wasn't sure if it should go in FB or BB forum but nevertheless, I heard on the radio post-game last Sunday that anyone with a ticket to the football game on Saturday can use it to get into Carver tomorrow night for the basketball season-opener as well.

you heard wrong I think ... the email I got said you get cheap tickets, like $5 ... not free

It appears you are correct based on the hawkeyesports.com website so perhaps it's time to get the wax plunged out of the ears again or Dolph was playing mind games with me :(

"FRIDAY TIP-OFF
• Tickets can be purchased at the UI Ticket Office. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for youths and students. $5 tickets are also available for veterans and fans that show their Iowa-Michigan State football ticket. "

Not saying it isn't reasonable. I am just not a fan of these arbitrary discount offers. Kids prices is one thing, military, etc.

But if you have a football ticket? Seriously?

The school I work at is doing a similar thing this weekend. If you wear camo you get half off. Nope, not for Veterans day, but hunting season.

I didn't want to start a whole thread on this so sorry for hijacking but:

How can we watch the game? i went to btn.com and didn't find out how. Do you have to pay to watch online? This is the worst thing about BTN is you can't watch basketball on it and in that we lose a lot of fans interest

What do you mean we can't watch basketball on BTN? 80% of our games will be on it this year. But it is unfortunate that some of the early season games will not be televised.

The hawkeye web site lists BTN.com as the tv coverage. I believe you can buy a $10 a month package for all streaming, I think I've known people who subscribe for a couple months just to cover early bball games.

Yep, with the BTN/ESPNU/ESPN/ESPN2/CBS showing 75% to 80% of the games instead of 100% it will cause fans to lose interest.

Think there will be any scalpers outside? I probably wont get there until about 10 minutes left in the first half

There were already at least 2 guys buying/selling tickets at the Sunday exhibition so I would say there is a good chance someone will be around tonight as well.

We live in great times, where we can complain that 20% of the games aren't on TV.

Considering 100% of the games used to be on TV that is a 20% drop in coverage. Wouldn't you be upset if 2-3 football games a year weren't on TV? I know I would. Just ask the Iowa State fans how they like not having their games televised.

I am not aware of any year that it was 100%.

But it certainly is nice to have to deal with first world problems.
