I would take win over Mich than NDSU anytime

The way this season is playing out and if I could pick a win vs a loss I would take the Big 10 win over #2 Mich anytime over the upset loss by NDSU. Conf Win is bigger, beating the big boys is bigger,

The bigger question is where is the focus and intensity by the players as individuals and a synergistic team against double digit and why cant the coaches do a big part of their job and motivate and increase the intensity.

I see Espn gave the hawks a 10% chance of beating Mich and I thought it was more like 5%. Mich QB didnt have a great game and some passes were tipped by the hawks but they also had several guys open long.

Despite how the schedule set up I wasn't expecting Iowa to be undefeated at this point in the year. I wasn't expecting 4 losses either. Not going to lie that NDSU loss still bothers me. You could have so easily had both.

If we had to take any loss, I would have rather lost to Michigan and beat NDSU, NW, and maybe Wisky (we win all of those games with just an avg offense). if had to pick one of those...I take the NW win over Mich win...and be 1 game back for West title if we win out.

We lost to NDSU and NW due to coaching. and maybe Wisconsin.

PSU just whooped us.

DD said it best, above.

The routine losses to NDSU, et al, are more damaging to this program than the occasional upset wins over the Michigans are helpful to it.

Completely disagree. The NDSU loss sucks, and should never, ever happen. Yet I would take a conference win and a NDSU loss any day of the week. If we were 7-2 in the B1G west, won the west and we had lost to NDSU, big whoop. Plus did you hear ANYONE at all talking about losing to NDSU while over 4 million people were watching the Hawks beat Michigan? This easily takes away the stain of a week 3 loss, nobody nationally even mentioned it.

You're right. There were a lot of people on here talking about how embarrassing the loss was but I didn't see anyone nationally even mention it other than right after the game where all they did was talk up NDSU.

I know the o p intended this to be a "would you rather" type thread. My point isn't what you or I wish or think, it's more about what DD said and what you and everyone agrees with, that NDSU's should never happen and these "either/or" threads should never exist.

I think your disagreement is short-sighted. I would not expect any "head" last Saturday / Sunday to override or qualify the news of today's huge upset win with the news of the yesterdays' huge upset loss. However, I believe, cumulatively, all those types of losses, year after year after year, tend to build up a less than favorable perception of Iowa that taints them even when they might be legit.

The loss to NDSU wasn't talked about by Herbstreit or any national talking head because Iowa was a mundane 5-4.

A big10 program, especially a top-tier big10 program, should never lose to a div i-aa. Especially never at home.

I realize it's just a for-fun what-if question after-the-fact.

But it should never have to be a for-fun what-if question after-the-fact.
Never.

edit: wow, walk away from the computer for a couple of minutes and great like thinking minds converge. :)

Buster I totally agree with you that the losing to double digit underdogs is infuriating and unacceptable. That is why every year when I make picks I select Iowa to lose to someone they shouldn't. Completely frustrating.
