I was proud of the fans last night

Minus the first 5 rows. They're absolutely pathetic and need to be removed from their seats. I get so tired of watching them sitting on their duffs, not even clapping after a big basket, let alone moving their obese aces out of their seat to cheer. Please put someone in those seats (preferably students) who act like they want to be there and vocally support this team. Rant over.

I'd be ok with the old rich folks getting all the good seats if they were like that one guy who sits in the front row right at half court. That dude is always up cheering, chewing on the refs, encouraging the players, etc. If you've watched a game on television, you've prolly seen this guy a few dozen times a game. Dude is Supa-fan. I like it.

Been a problem for decades. All they do is take stinky poops in the rr's.

And donate a ton of money! You?

Haven't watched many Iowa bball games over the last 15 years until now, so I haven't paid attention to this argument until now. I see that Michigan has done this. Their TV-visible home crowd compared to ours is night and day, with our crowd looking pathetic. I'm sure many other athletic departments have followed suit, most of you are probably more aware of this than I am. I now agree: spread the students across the tv-viewable courtside (behind the benches). There can't be that many ELITE level boosters that we can't find good seats for. Michigan did it, and I'm sure they have many more big donors to cater to than we do.

Basically worthless info but a testament to Hawk fans. Top 3 attendance @ NIT games to date:

1.) IOWA - 15,400
2.) BYU - 7,500
3.) Providence - 5,100

No one else over 5,000.

Hawk fans....i tip my hat.

Oh yeah. This guys is super animated but I like his fire. Last night he jumped up quick after one of the Indiana St. players traveled and did the traveling signal so fast and long right up to the ref. My gf nudged me and pointed it out. Did anyone else see this? He's the man and must have some cashola.

I don't fully understand the dynamics of boosters and their seating arrangements but having the student section court side would change the environment dramatically. Is that even a possibility? If not, why not? Half way up behind the Iowa bench are 12 rows of what I assume are press tables which were about half full. Seems like a waste of space. Gotta be a way to get students court side to energize CHA.

If/when Iowa gets truly good again, the press area will not be so empty. And in any case, you don't put your students behind the home bench. THAT is a waste of space, IMO.

If the lower seeds keep knocking of the top seeds and Iowa wins the title, will their NIT RPI keep them from getting credit for it?

I think if we win the NIT, our RPI will probably fall into the 80's. Meanwhile the mountain west is clearly showing why they're the best conference. (by RPI)

Do we really support our team, or have nothing else to do? Or a little of both?

You're right JJ. He's always animated and in the refs business. He's even been mentioned by the telecast crew before (last year) because of his animated antics. The color guy kept saying he should be kicked out for dishing the business.
He always has sweet seats and is at all the games. Me thinks he has mucho moneys. Good for him. Good for him.
