I was beginning to get a sick feeling in my stomach about the upcoming season, but then I talked to a high school coach I know who sat in on a couple Iowa practices a week or so ago.

He told me that the team looks quick as lightning and athletic compared to the other high school girls teams he has seen.

Not that this guy is some end-all/know-all, but it is disturbing that we don't target girls for this program. I thought that it might change some with Coach Fran because his wife is pretty damn hot and all, but it still seems like we aren't really targeting hot bodies who break the mold of the traditional Iowa State cheerleader.

Our front seven is fast as greased lightning and should be able to outnumber any front court in the nation.
 
You and Duffman really need to get new material, the first time you did this on another topic was pretty good, not so much now.
 
Oh yeah, I forgot we aren't supposed to call in to question anything Hawkeye at all. I'll toe the line from now on.

And what kind of conversation were you expecting based off your OP?? The notion that others might put stock into your opinion of not being excited because of what some other coach said in watching some of Iowa's practices is ridiculous. What did you expect? Really?

This is what I thought too, and has nothing to do with "questioning" anything Hawkeye. If he were to have posted that some coach said in watching some of Iowa's practices that we looked like a NBA team, and we would win 25 games and be a 1 or 2 seed, I'm sure he would have gotten a similar reaction for being stupid.....
 
That is something I know isn't true. People get so wound up when someone says something they don't want to hear.

A guy who has coached high school basketball for a long time, a guy who has sent players to Division I programs, a guy who has coached against many of the stars who have come through the Chicagoland area and the Public League, made the observation and told me because he knows I am an Iowa alum and fan. I'm sorry what he saw doesn't jive with what everyone else wants to believe.

Dang...we indeed are doomed. Anybody have Fran's #? Probably should give him a call and suggest he cancel the season. When High School coaches start sayin bad stuff about your program, well....it's over. Period. DONE!

Fran should be fired right now! How can we lose to Minnesota? Our offense is too predictable and our front line couldn't get a block to save their life.

No, what doesn't jive is the notion that you think that others on this board are going to take your opinion of not be excited for something other than what it is. Your opinion which I might add is based off of another guy's opinion.

You know what's got me excited about Iowa basketball. The fact that Iowa beat two really good teams in Purdue and MSU at the tail end of last year. You know what else has got me excited. The fact that Fran got a commitment from a player that could go play for a national championship caliber basketball school. No one has said that Iowa is going to be great this year, or even good for that matter, but to me it is exciting to see that the program seems to be heading in the right direction. That's something we haven't been able to say over the past 8 or so years. I'm choosing to be excited about this season not because I think we have a chance to win the B10, but because I am excited to see improvement from last year.
