I thought Wisconsin was supposed to be terrible?

Wisconsin is losing 3 really solid seniors -- seniors that played a big role in last years team too if you attempt to downplay losing them. Wisconsin will have two returning that are solid, but the teams I listed above have the same quality or better players than those 2 coming back next year. You can enjoy this year, but I promise you won't enjoy being at the bottom of the Big10 next year. The football team is on its last leg too.

This is one of the reasons that they were so good this year. They were one of the more experienced teams in the conference this year. They did lose a stud point guard in Taylor, but had a lot of experience back. I remember Badger fans saying that this year's team was one of their deepest they've ever had. With Bo's system and what it requires, even the loss of Gasser didn't hinder them to the point of being relegated to the bottom half of the conference. While they lose more this year than last, they should still be in the hunt for a conference title next year with the experience their players got this year, the return of Gasser, and Sam Dekker getting close to 30 minutes a game. Hate him or not, Bo can coach. Even if it is the most boring thing you've ever witnessed.

I enjoy ActiveBadger's posts, even though you can set your watch by them if they win/lose. :)

Agree with AB....BR is at the top of his game. Wisky isn't universally known as a BB powerhouse school, but, hard to argue with BR never finishing below #4 in the conference, or the fact he's beaten Indy 12-straight times. And other than Milwaukee, Wisconsin is pretty similar to Iowa re: population, demographics, etc. I.e. he cannot feed entirely off of in-state talent.

I think most on here, if being entirely honest, would admit that BR is a great coach who gets the most out of his talent through his system. Everyone's problem with AB is he only shows up to spout off how all the detractors can go to h*** after the badgers win.

Wisconsin did not look like a good team until Jackson started to play well, before that just looked average.

That said, for losing Taylor and Gasser (which I don't think was a huge loss anyway), they still had 3 other starters back and their top bench players, one of which has hit some key shots for them this year.

Wisconsin recruits players that don't leave and then throw in a guy like Dekker, who is a star in the making, coming off the bench and is arguably their best player at times, you have a team that wins games. Like it or not, Fran is building Iowa in the fashion, recruiting 4-yr players that have talent, won't leave and finding guys that are under the radar.

The "grab and hold" defense is effective because refs allow them to get away with it, that isn't an excuse, it is reality. I think they will be a solid team year in an year out, they get underrated talent, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. I loathe no program more than I do Wisconsin as I just can't stand the way they play.

In fact I've been hearing that for 12 freaking years!!!

Some people NEVER learn

When Bo does call it quits, it will be interesting to see where the program goes. Maybe that's still several years away, but it wouldn't be unfathomable to see the program bow out when the coach who built it steps down.

Wisky has a run of hiring decent football/basketball coaches. Bennett was no slouch.

Who was before him? Seriously, I can't think of it, wasn't it Steve Yoder?
When he was on the BTN and did Iowa games they lost everytime...
I didn't think he was too great...Wisconsin has gotten a couple good ones in a row for sure though.

The previous 2 coaches at Wisconsin (Stan Van Gundy and Stu Jackson) both went on to coach in the NBA. Then it was Yoder. :)
