I think we see a very empty student section on saturday....

Start of T'giving break.
Current students I know have said that most of their friends are headed out of town friday.
NW loss makes the game less important.
Noticed a ton of OSU student tickets posted on Craigslist on Sunday.

Hoping it is 2/3 full, which would still be sad.

Team still has a shot to win 10 games and students don't care? Wow. It's OSU and we have a very good shot at beating them...and the students don't care enough to stay an extra day. I find this hard to believe.

These seniors deserve a crazy crowd on Saturday. Hopefully people who want to be there and support the hawks buy up the tickets.

No kidding. I'm staying the extra day if I'm still in school.
This is the best chance to beat an OSU team in sometime.
I hope they win and rush the field.
And I'm not a big fan of rushing the field.

If they don't want to stick around, that's fine by me. I'll be there to watch us beat the Buckeyes, and I'll get it all on "film" (digital camera). Hell, I'll get even better pictures if I can get a little closer to the field.

There will definitely be some openings at the top. There are a TON of tickets available at Facebook Marketplace. There going for $35-$45 when earlier in the year they were going for $150 or more.

There is going to be a good amount of people there....but I know ALOT of fellow students that have decided to pawn off their tickets and get the heck out of town on Friday.

When I was in school, '98 to '01, the student section was packed full every game (unless my memory is just completely self-deceiving), regardless of who we played, and we were 3-8, 1-10, 3-8. I'll have to see the empties before I believe it. Come to think of it, seems like I have seen some empty areas over there for games against non-aq opponents in recent years. Does the student section, with the new end zone, seat a little more than it used to?

If we are getting our ***** handed to us at halftime (3 scores or more) I wouldn't be surprised at all if half the student section is gone. I would think though that it will be nearly full at the beginning of the game.

I do believe that the student section is bigger than it was when it was in the NW corner. And I'm guessing the top will be empty. My freshman year (2008), it was empty up high for just about every game (I didn't go to the ISU game (high school homecoming) that year, but it was probably full for that one). Even after we beat PSU, it was empty up high in the endzone. Last year was packed all year, and it was this year too. But now that there is no realistic hope for the Big Ten crown, and therefore no Rose Bowl, there will be a lot of empty seats.

Iowa students just aren't into the athletics like they used to be.
There are still the diehards, so don't attack me and tell me you haven't missed a game in 4 years. I'm just generalizing the entire students.
Look at Carver. FREE TICKETS TO THE GAME! There were less than 50 students at the game tonight.
Makes me sick.

Haha, you cut me off at the pass! I actually had to cover the Iowa City city council meeting tonight for a class, so I missed the double-header (I was more than a little p*ssed about that, especially after the meeting only lasted 20 minutes). I don't get it though. It's like people think things will get better without them doing a little to help.

People who don't want to show up to watch OSU get beat by Iowa when they have the chance to suck.

That's fine if they are that fair weather. I think they will be fairly full, but if not...maybe could everyone in the stadium slide an extra inch or two so that I can exhale and breathe with my arms actually at my sides rather than my shoulders curled in; in an attempt to give the person next to me some space? Then again, it keeps me standing more often than not. :D

A lot of those Chicago kids that Jon hates will also be wanting to watch that Illinois/Northwestern game at wrigley field.
