I still really like this team. Not giving up on them.

Got to make free throws and get separation on offense to get shots.

They simply didn't do either tonight and that can be corrected.

it was a turd. Flush it and move on. Lots of season left.

the thing that concerns me now is can this team get this loss out of their heads. We have a brutal stretch coming up here. Illinois may be down but I wouldn't count that as w just yet, then OSU and Mich. I don't know, suddenly I'm not so confident.

Well said. They need to win a few and start a new home streak. A brutal loss and they willbe even tougher healthy and at home.

Lots of season left ! Find a way to improve the FTs and tthings will get better. God I hope so.

Different game same result. This team lacks a closer down the stretch. No confidence in close end game situations. Lacks good leadership to get a good play called to get a good shot off as well. Not a good combination for NCAA tourney. IMO

We didn't make a basket in the final 15 minutes and were still in the game against a top ten team with a chance to win.

Agreed but it is nice to be talking about the NCAA tourney and Iowa in the same breath again!

Pooper of a game by Iowa. Right from the opening tip. So disappointing.

But I will be tuning in this weekend as we take out frustration on a hapless IL team.

College basketball is a roller-coaster and a *****. This loss will sting a lot less if they get to the sweet 16 or elite 8.

yes and we lost, so whats your point?

Ill spoon feed it to you. There is still a reason to be optimistic when we can not make a field goal for damn near half the game and still hang with a top ten team. Make 6 more free throws and Iowa wins in regulation.

Plenty of reason for optimism the rest of the way. Iowa has shown they can play with legit top 10 teams(MSU, Michigan, & Villanova). But still need to figure out a way to win. They have the players and several opportunities so hopefully they take advantage.

I don't think they can rely of FT shooting though. It gets to a point where you are what you are with that, either you can make them or you can't. They're just going to have to make up for that weakness in other areas. Make some adjustments in the half-court to combat the defenses teams like MSU & Michigan throw at them and finish stronger to turn the the 2 shot shooting fouls into an 'and 1' opportunities.

A top 10 team missing 2 of their best players... make no mistake this was a very bad loss

Not to mention a great crowd and a huge advantage in fouls. Some bad ref calls, but overall not the total screwing over we are used to.
This team has not shown mental toughness the last season and half, and it's not improving. A 7 footer who can't dunk. Guards who can't shoot free throws. Mental breakdowns that allow wide open 3's possession after possession. 15 minutes where they can't get a basket.
Too much swooning over some dick head announcer saying Iowa is final 4 material. I'm not sure Final 4 of BIG tournament right now.

And still lost. Moral victories are for drooling Clones. Enough of the choking losses.

No such thing as moral victories for a team with Iowa's talent and experience, just flat losses. I hate to say choke but its getting harder to argue with as the close losses pile up over the last 2 seasons.

like I said after the Iowa State loss... its a pattern that goes way back.

As much as I want to be in denial about it - its not a fluke its a pattern.

It's up to these players to dig deep and find it.

As this point I'm not inclined they can. But there are a lot of games left.
