He missed 2 throws he should have made and fumbled when he didn't see someone behind him. Other than that it wasn't that bad. I guess the interception that got called back was bad too. He made some plays that no one since Tate could have made too.

we have to scrap throwing to that undersized freshman WR.. he is too small to make plays

I would agree to an extent on the play calling having CJ play action and roll to his left over and over was bad. More screens would have been nice too.

Agreed. The screen game was there, especially with them blitzing. The one we missed would have been a big gain.

I agree. Play calling didn't adjust to game situations. In the Pitt game, the offense adjusted. What gives? Less QB runs to save the QB? Did the staff put the lid on CJ's small throwing windows after the first pick? Where were the screens to offset Wisky's blitzes?

Wisconsin shut down Iowa's running game in the second half. Why not pass on running downs to loosen Wisky's phone booth defense that can dial up, for example, blitzes because Iowa's play calling is so predictable and necessary.

Play calling will have to adjust for Iowa to get better. Iowa doesn't have the lines or the athleticism to really go one-one-one in the passing game. And CJ has probably already been told no more picks. I wonder if GD can adjust? If KF can adjust?

I think a lot of it has to do with what we have at WR. Vandeberg was the only WR that can make a play and he's still somewhat difficult to get the ball to because he doesn't get any separation... Credit to him tho... He will make the catch in traffic when CJ puts it on him.

Wisconsin's defense had something to do with it but CJ was also over throwing everybody today. Chalk it up to nerves, hopefully he will be better the next time Iowa has a big game.

I agree with this. It was a bad game for CJ as he had some open receivers and over threw them. The fumble was clearly his fault for not protecting the ball while running. He will learn from the experience and bounce back next week. Wisconsin defense is the best part of their team.

More affective play calling would have helped. The seven yard slant was there the whole game. Also if Iowa would have tried a halfback pass or a flea flicker it would have been open for a huge play. Wisky's defense was gambling and sending everyone once the ball was handed off.

He threw late over the middle on that interception as he was being forced down. Throw it away. Tempt intentional grounding. Take a sack. Don't get picked off. That's a coaching no no.

Nothing wrong with CJB. Now Greg Davis play calling on the other hand left much to be desired.

Wisconsin blitzed most of the day plus they are just plain good on D anyway. Yet Davis felt dropping his QB back for some long passes would work.

KF has changed to be sure, but it's the same old Greg Davis.

While the Hawk D played hard and physical, the ineptitude of Stave helped considerably in this win.

When it's mano y mano, it looks like Iowa will, more than not, lose. It's time to loosen things up.

Sidenote: I heard KF on a radio broadcast say the Iowa win was beautiful. How so?

On several plays we were running too deep of routes and CJ held the ball too long waiting for the routes to open. He was forces several times to try to scramble for yards as the pocket collapsed. When their blitzing like that the screen and slant passes are the correct call. Then as they adjust their defense you adjust your offense. That's where a hitch and go can be very affective.
