I missed the meat of the game, can someone recap?

I had to be out this AM, only caught the last few mins and the Hawks were ahead and sealed it.
Can someone recap in brief?

Iowa dominated in the second half! They had a nice deep completion and they ran the ball well. The defense also did a good job stopping the Pittsburgh running game in the second half.

OL played well in the second half, Weisman got going, ended with around 90 yards and 2 TD's, CJ played the entire second half "Due to Rudock injury" and played well, going 7-8 for around 100 yards. Iowa scored the winning TD with around, what, 6 minutes left, and then held on for the win.

CB Mabin came up huge on Pitt's #1 WR, with break ups on back to back plays with Pitt near the Iowa redzone late.

Iowa played almost the whole game out of the I-formation and pro-set. Very good play calling all game and then CJB came in and played great in the second half. Weisman had a very good game running the ball and got a lot of tough yards up the middle. Powell made a great 1 handed catch (a bomb from CJ) that was probably the turning point in the game.

Tale of two halves then? Maybe we can put together a full game next week?

More like the tale of two quarterbacks. CJ played the 2nd half and for the first time this year the offense didn't make me want to puke.

The change in quarterback completely transformed the offense, and the defense did what they had to do. But it was mostly the QB.

Defense held them to 3 pts in the 2nd half after getting straight trucked in the 1st.

Obviously credit to CJ but saying the "defense did what they had to do" is taking credit away from a unit that turned a **** poor performance into a terrific one.

Look I don't think we win that game with Ruddock but if you want to just argue what difference was bigger, the Qb play or the D, I'd say the D.

- Beathard
- Pitt quit running up the middle in the 2nd half for some reason
- #13 came of age

As an aside, be thankful the Hawks play in a college town if you will. With their own unique stadium. Pittsburgh is a pro-team town. Pitt has to share the stadium. (FCS schools have their own stadiums). The colors of the seats didn't match their uniforms. Tons of empty seats. Stadium not on the campus. All downers.

I believe our colors fit in nicely!

Here ya go.

The offense changed significantly...they threw the ball long... like all the "idiot fans and internet experts" along with sports columnists said we should have been doing against ISU.

C.J. Beathard played, and showed his ability ...we got our more talented WRs involved...and it was effective.

The defense also found a nice game against a pretty damn good offense in Pitt.

After the game, Ferentz was petulant and arrogant...because what the other 95% of the global population suggested would work....Did. (how dare they doubt the King)
