I missed the game

They hit 7 of 17 from 3 pt range, so that move their yearly 3 pt shooting % to 32.5%.

They also went to the line 43 times tonight, making it 116 FT attempts in 3 games. They are shooting 74% from the FT line.

My prediction after 2 games was 35% from 3 for the year...moving closer.

Eastern Shore was without their leading scorer due to illness I believe which certainly did not help their cause. Gesell started at the point and Marble moved over to the off-guard as Fran wanted to get Mike going and also placed an emphasis on getting the ball up the floor quicker especially after an opponent's made basket. Marble played sparingly and had a bag of ice on his right hip after he came out and is not 100%. The Hawkeyes also took advantage of a much smaller opponent by grabbing several offensive boards along with some easy put backs to put up 56pts in the first half. Reserves played much of the second half which gave Uthoff, Clemmons, and Jok some extra touches.

ps...you can record the BTN replay set for 1:00am if you'd like to see more for yourself.

You're married to a high schooler? Didn't know that's how they did it in Michigan.

Reading my earlier post, it was a bit out of order. My wife and I coach at Whiteford High School in Michigan and we won tonight to advance to the Class C Quarterfinal to play Auburn Hills Oakland Christian Tuesday at 7 EST.

So, to clarify, I am not married to a high schooler; I coach them.

Glad that on a night we played so so, it sounds like our Hawks played a well rounded game.

Again, to clarify, not married to a high school volleyball player. You guys are awesome, I really mean it, keep cracking me up fellas.

Hawks could have run up 130 points. As it is, they are averaging 91/game.

Uthoff is going to be a big time X factor. Jok had an off game. Franny talked to him twice on his decision making.

Woody....still scratching my head (doesn't finish drives, isn't dominating and hardly affecting, defensively).

I missed the game too. Was coaching and my wife's team is advanced to the State Quarterfinals in Class C, State of Michigan...Volleyball.

How did Uthoff look?

7/17 from downtown for Iowa. Are you now going to read too much into this games 3 point shooting as well and predict a B1G championship for Iowa?

Uthoff looks so calm and at ease on the court. He lets the game come to him while still being aggressive and making plays. He doesn't whine or pout after a bad call or a mistake on his part. He may not have played in official games the past 2 years but he certainly seems mature and even-tempered on the court. I don't know what he was like when he graduated from high school but I really like his demeanor, body language, etc. in addition to his obvious talent...with major upside.

Glad I wasn't needed to start a winning thread. Can someone give me a quick rundown? Looks like it was a total blowout. Glad we get at least one of those in.

Meat next time you can't make it just let me know and I will create another winning thread.

Dev through an oop off the backboard to the flying ginga. That's all you really need to know.

Curious...is that a missed shot for Dev or an assist?

Assist....the scorer knows the diff. EMS was just hapless. Good for team morale as lots of guys played and scored, but not a fair contest. Need to try to schedule up, if possible...not 353 RPI team...go for 200.

I actually like Kyle Meyer. Hit a 3, can rebound, lots of potential. Of course everyone looks a little better against a team like MES.

White was terrific, seemed like he made every shot he took.

I'm not a woody hater and I know he provides more value on D than offense but how in the hell does a 7 footer get a pass with his momentum going towards the hoop and not be able to throw it down???

Woody seem to run the floor well so I don't like to label him unathletic but his leaping/explosion might be the word I've seen for that type of caliber player.

Even in high school he never seemed to be a dunk artist. If he can make a close in hook shot or simply drop the ball in the basket after Devyn's very nice assist, that is fine with me. A basket is a basket. I would like to see him slam that ball once in a while but that doesn't seem to be his style. He is much more smooth and comfortable on offense this year however, hard to tell sometimes but he he has lost a lot of his freshman awkwardness and is essential on D, whether or not he blocks a ton of shots. His presence is effective by itself. He does keep players away from the basket and rethink their attack......

I wouldn't mind him perfecting a soft hook shot anywhere near the basket. It is one of the easiest shots to make and most of the time is very difficult to stop.....

I said it on the NBA talent thread... For woody to take his game to the next level, he needs to perfect the baby hook with both hands.

As for the play into original post, you are right it doesn't matter if he lays it up or dunks, 2 points is 2 points.

However Woody's poor leaping ability has already and will continue to affect rebounds, scoring plays and his chances of along the NBA are slim because of his inability to get off the floor.
