Iowa plays well at Michigan State, wins at Indiana and everything is getting better. Iowa loses to Ohio State and Michigan and it's time to fire the coach (again) LOL at Lil Lick getting favoritism from this staff. Ask Kirk Ferentz how easy it is to have your son on your tream.
I have no problem with Lil Lick playing, I really don't

I don't have a problem playing but he should only be in for about 5 mins while Cully get 35 mins.
This is the quintessential point that I think almost every basketball fan should be able to see... and it troubles me that Coach Lickliter doesn't see it this way. The fact that Todd thinks John should have gotten more time during the OSU game just adds more to it.
Agreed that losing Peterson hurt. Freeman would be gone if he stayed here (and didn't redshirt) so he would not have helped this year. I also agree that is anyone leaves at the end of the year, then it may be time to move on.Lil Brick is small potatoes in comparison with the bigger issues that the Iowa basketball team is facing. If Big Lick thinks that his kid is any where close to D1 talent and warrants more minutes because of the way he plays fundamental ball then he clearly can't identify real talent let alone recruit it.
We are in this situation because we (Lick) chased away Peterson and Freeman. If we had either of those two players on this years team then Cully wouldn't be thrown to the wolves and we would have a much deeper, more experienced roster. But that's not the case. Call it what you want, make as many excuses as you wish, the bottom line is this coach can't seem to find the right talent nor keep the talent once its on campus.
The final straw is going to be at the end of the season to see if any player and I mean ANY player leaves the program. This program can not afford to continue the rebuilding process with players leaving the program. Iowa is a major college program paying coaches major college salaries. If they can't get it done then pull the plug and move on to the next guy.
If thats the case then i am assuming that you dont have a problem with Iowa being 8-14? Because 8-14 is what you get when guys of Lil Lick's talent level are pushed into serious action.
Of course I don't enjoy being 8-14 but with the players that left after last year what did you expect this season? 14-8?
No one expected a great season but thats part of the problem. All of these transfers fall on the head coach. He has been unable to retain talent sufficient enough to win in the big ten and that is why i have a problem with Lil Lick playing. I know he is playing because we have nobody else but that leads to the bigger question - WHY IN THE HELL DONT WE HAVE ANYONE ELSE? Lil Lick is not even close to a Big Ten player and the fact that we cant compile and retain enough talent to keep him on the bench is a joke
What's to say bringing in a new coach wouldn't chase off more players?
Its impossible to say for sure - anytime you bring in a new coach you usually lose players initially but you shouldnt lose multiple players every single offseason. I think it would be safe to say that the amount of attrition weve had with Lick is well above normal.
I am not calling for his head - im simply calling for him and his staff to recruit some players who are better than John Lickliter. Shouldnt be very hard since there are dozens of them playing at the field house every night
I'm pretty sure Lil Lick is playing due to the lack of players. The class in next season looks to be pretty good
