I know we're all really upset with tonight's loss,

Reasons we lost tonight...

1. We couldn't make shots within two feet. This has actually been a recurring problem all season. I've never seen a team miss so many close shots. Dunk the freaking ball Woodbury!!

2. Dumb turnovers. Clemmons continued to make horrendous decisions with the ball, and Marble wasn't playing very smart either. Way too much dribbling against a very athletic defense.

3. Baylor couldn't seem to miss in the second half.

4. Poor shot choices by Iowa. We jacked up a lot of threes just a few seconds into the shot clock while the game was still close. It was completely unnecessary and gave Baylor the ball right back. Very frustrating.

Everybody is afraid to state the most obvious reason why they lost.

They had a bad night. It happens. Indiana had a bad night against Syracuse. And so on, and so on. They were in it with 8:00+ minutes to go, (only down 8), but this was the bad-shooting-Hawks that showed up, not the good-shooting-Hawks of the past 2 games.

^^This is the point. Hawks had a really poor shooting night. We consistently were shooting 25% from the 5 minute mark of the game to the very end. No team will win doing that against a quality opponent.

If the bad Baylor team showed up and played matador defense and didnt shoot over 50% it would have been a very very ugly game.

The hawks were right there after 5 minutes of the second half and that run just globbered us.

Agreed, very good season overall. Great NIT run up until tonight, but on the bright side, finishing the season on a game like this can light a fire in the players when they are running out of gas in workouts this summer.

The future is looking good. This NIT run reminded me of Iowa's non-conference season. Several very bad teams. Hopefully Jok and Uthoff can provide some sorely needed offensive spark next year.

Only Indiana St was outside the top 70 on KenPom, the competition in the NIT was much better than our non-conf schedule.

They were much, much better than us tonight?
They have a lot more talent than we have?

That is why I'm so surprised people are upset with the loss. Once the game started, it shouldn't have taken long to realize Baylor is simply a lot better than Iowa. Particularly down low. Marble is Iowa's only player that would start on Baylor's team, even that wouldn't be a sure thing.

Fran's got a good thing going in IC but I hope this is a lesson for people. This is not an athletic team. When they play athletic teams like Baylor this is going to happen, particularly if Iowa tries to play at a high pace.

“We definitely don’t want to play in this tournament again.”

Its time to go the NCAA tournament.

I like our players and they are very good but Fran needs to still ratchet up the recruiting and bring in even better more athletic players.

Well it's a lot easier to bring in quality recruits to a 25 win team than it is to an 11 win team. I think Fran would be the first to say that he's not satisfied with the quality of player we have on our teams, but they're the type of players who build a solid foundation for a program. The win totals have went from 11-18-25, there is absolutely no question the program is moving in the right direction.

Baylor showed just how little athletic ability Iowa has. Jok, Meyer, and Uthoff are going to make Iowa's athleticism better next year? Iowa is definitely a system team. Iowa definitely needs better athletes through recruiting.
EDIT: do you think Iowa is going to get better recruits with Fran's public displays? How many players did he show up last night? The whole team?

Yeah, it's obvious the players love Fran, that definitely translates into recruiting.

This is still a transitional roster for Fran. He inherited Eric,Zach and Dev. Mel is his guy. The sophmores and frosh are his guys. I think the true Fran roster will not be completed until 2014-15 when Zach and Dev are gone, and he has preplaced that senior class with 3 athletic frosh like Ulis,Cunningham, and Harris or Woodard.

Guys like Jefferson and Austin for Baylor do not fall into Iowa's lap....Drew is a recruiting wiz,or cheater.

If this team goes to the NIT next year it will be one and done cause nobody's gonna want to be there.
