I just like the idea of having your own tourney. Iowa has had it since I can remember. It was a tradition I miss having around.

I like the idea of the all-Iowa tourney...
Since Iowa and Iowa State have to play eachother, you'd have that and Drake vs. UNI. Play it at Wells Fargo so it is (somewhat) neutral.
I'd also like to see a yearly game against DePaul at the United Center in Chicago.

as I thought there was a couple of reasons this was dropped. I thought one was lack of sponsor, and the other was the way the NCAA had changed how these sorts of events count toward a team's limit of games. With the limits on the number of "exempt" tournaments a team could play in during a given time period, the Hawkeye Challenge had become less attractive to both Iowa and in drawing opponents for the thing.
But I could be way off base.

I would also like to see the hawkeye challenge brought back. I would like to see 3 decent teams invited (Siena?) and everyone be guaranteed to play two games.

That's pretty much the way it used to be, except maybe for the "decent" part. Think it would be good to do it again. The Black and Gold Blowout also. You know, all those fan-friendly things that disappeared the last three years.

I also hope individual honors are allowed around the Iowa BB offices again, too.
We used to have some pretty good teams for the tourney until about 2000. Wow.

Yep, and on a similar note, watched one of Fran's press conferences and he actually said that one player wasn't doing so well in the first half so he sat him and the kid played better after that, and he used the guy's name!

Almost every year the tournament had cream puffs. Iowa only lost twice in the history of the tournament so I don't think it was really meant to be much of a "challenge".
