I am a huge Iowa fan. No one that knows me knows a bigger Iowa fan than me.
I live in Kansas City. Normally I watch every Iowa football and basketball game. I don't have a lot of time to watch a lot of other college basketball after Iowa. But I am a fan of great basketball and if I had the time I could watch a lot of KU, KSU and Mizzou.
I am tempted after today to simply tape all Iowa games and watch them after the fact. That might allow me to watch more good college basketball, as I am sure there might be games I just wouldn't watch altogether after seeing a final score.
I am not a band wagon fan, but after watching the game today I can honestly see why fans are not showing up at Carver-Hawkeye. They don't even look like they are hustling when they turn the ball over so often and can't stop guys on defense. Honestly, sometimes they may feel so beaten down that they aren't hustling. Then again, some of our players might be so out classed in terms of athleticism that they just appear to not be hustling next to a different class of player.
The team is so overmatched and they really don't execute any part of the game well or with any consistency, when they also don't look like they hustle and they play a boring brand of basketball (it's not boring if they win, though, to me anyway) then it is hard to watch. It is extremely hard to watch. And they don't look like they are having any fun, either. All those things make it hard to pay for what is being rolled out there, especially in times like these.
Thanks for letting me vent. I know I would enjoy the sport of baseball more if I hadn't been watching the Royals for the last 20 years but instead had been watching a better team. I am a huge baseball fan and having been overexposed to a perennial loser has hurt some of my enthusiasm there as well. I don't want to lose that for college basketball too, but in the past few years I simply have not watched much college basketball outside of Iowa until the tournament.
