I HATE BTN

LOL, really? You act like the game time was decided this week...

Exactly. Wanna be p*ssed at someone? Get p*ssed at the Bears and Packers for making it to the conference title game, thereby leaving you torn as to who to watch. They DID decide that a week ago :D

Who cares who's playing. If the conference gets to decide when the game will be played, why would they choose to compete with huge NFL football games? There is absoltuely no reason they should have Sunday BB during the NFL season.

When the Big Ten scheduled this game months ago, they knew the NFC Championship game would be played at the same time, 2pm CT. They also know that a majority of Iowans are NFC fans, so there was a major risk at putting the Iowa game at this time, but they did it anyways. The entire basketball TV schedule this season has been a joke. Iowa plays 1 Saturday home game before March in the Big Ten. Unaccpetable.

I asked Big Ten Mark TV on Twitter why this was, the main answer is that BT coaches mandate a 2 day minimum of preparation for each game, since Indiana played Thursday night, this game had to be on Sunday. My response would be quit putting Iowa's opponents on Thursday nights so that some of these games can be on Saturdays.

What leverage does Iowa have exactly? Iowa and Indiana should be hidden by the NFC title game. This game will be an abomination to basketball.

Don't be upset with the BTN, be p'ssed at Lickliter. Because of him, the Hawks are horse crap.

The BTN has to fill programing and crappy teams get crappy time slots. Other than Iowa & Indiana fans (combined 1-11 in conference play), who the hell wants to watch theses two teams?

Until the Hawks become competitive, they will continue to be on the BTN at lousy times on Sunday. Get over it! It's not the BTN's fault. CBS & ESPN sure do not want to televise Iowa basketball. You should be thankful that the BTN has to televise Iowa basketball games.

I am with you, I frankly dislike Sunday bball games a ton unless it is a rare national tv CBS game like the old days. An Iowa-Indiana basketball game is not going to get a premium time slot. Not when they are likely the two worst teams in the Big Ten...at least we have Hawkeye wrestling on the BTN today, Hawkeye mens hoops tomorrow, and the Iowa women @ OSU Monday night. Not a bad three days stretch, even if we got a crappy time slot tomorrow.

The Sunday games stink period and the Big Ten needs to figure out a better plan. I go to church at 11 on Sundays as I would guess a good number of Hawk fans do as well. I won't miss church even for an Iowa basketball game. Then in the afternoon they schedule against the NFL. It just seems a ridiculous way to attract an audience.

It seems to me that the BTN came into existence as a means to reach new markets and attract a broader audience. You don't achieve that by scheduling throw-away games and putting your weakest teams in the crappy time slots. I realize we get the short end of the stick as a weak team in a small media market. But the scheduling problems seems bigger than just that. The times that they schedule games just have no rhyme or reason nor any kind of continuity. It takes a dedicated fan to keep up with it.

Not to mention Big Ten tries to show alot of games. Guessing the two power house schools Iowa and Indiana drew about the last time spot.

I don't think the NFC title game time slot was already set in stone months ago. If a west coast team were alive and hosting the game, it would have been the late game instead.

Torn as to who to watch? I'll be at the Bears game...the Iowa v. Indiana game will sit on the DVR until I'm done celebrating the Bear's NFC championship win.

This is the correct answer. When you're Iowa, you play games on Sunday afternoon, and your tipoff for games during the week are 8 or 830.

No hard feelings, but anyone who can't weigh the bears and packers game for a trip to the super bowl or essentially a meaningless Iowa game has issues.
Don't get me wrong I'm loyal to the Hawks, but picking up a big ten win vs. watching your team win a nfc title should be one of the easier decisions a person makes tomorrow.

I am absolutely sick of these Sunday games too. It's a joke. The BTN has actually completely turned off the average fan to Iowa basketball. I don't consider myself an average fan, I will follow Iowa no matter what, but a lot of people are just average bandwagon type fans. They are used to seeing Iowa play Wednesday nights at 7 and Saturday late morning or afternoon (with the occasional Sat night game). And only on Sunday if it is a big game on CBS. Now the BTN plays tons of games on Sundays and it is a big detrement to the program. I understand that is how things will be since we suck, but it's really a double edged sword for the program right now. Fran is trying to rebuild interest from the fans and crappy start times is only going to make that job even harder.

That's the whole point; why would the BTN put Iowa in a position where no one will choose to watch their game. They could have had it on when the wrestling match was being show Saturday afternoon. There was absolutely no need to put it up against the NFL on the day of the conference championship games. The message is that you, Iowa, will play whenever the hell we tell you to play irrespective of the impact on your fans and TV ratings. Obviously, too many of us will choose to watch the NFL-that doesn't make it right that the BTN would make such a decision.
