I dont. Its that simple. I dont think Barta understands what it is needed to be successful in B10 basketball. I havent seen one shred of evidence that he does. Somebody convince me he can make the right decisions. Please.

Well, he's seen what doesn't work, so he should know what that looks like now and to avoid it?

Based on what? He's made one hire as AD. If he doesn't get this one right, chances are he won't get a chance to hire a 3rd.

I think he may have learned his lesson last time. I'm sure it will be a veteran coach with experience winning big games and making it to the dance on a consistent basis. No more stepping stones for this program!

The problem is, he was in denial at his press conference. He kept saying about how Todd had all the qualities he was looking for and was going to go out and look for someone with those same qualities? WTF is that? Maybe it was just a CYA moment and he didn't believe a word he just said, but man, that came off to me as someone who doesn't have a clue.

I'm with the OP in that I don't have much confidence in him. He can have all the money in the world to throw at someone, but he doesn't strike me as someone who can really SELL a candidate on coming here. He strikes me as a "wonkish" AD who has a good grasp of numbers and stats and whatnot, but not someone who can sit across from a big name coach and SELL the university and the job to him. Hopefully I'm wrong, but he hasn't shown me anything in the time he's been there that he's capable of it.

Of course he is going to say good things about Lick. Lick is a good man who ran a clean program. Naturally Barta wants the same qualities in the new coach...not a sleazeball who cheats.

But I agree this needs to be a home run hire for Barta. And that means no Keno Davis. If he hires Davis I will be ROYALLY ticked off.

No one needs to convince you because it doesn't matter whether you trust him or not. He is in charge of it because he is smarter, better qualified, and more experienced than you.

I haven't seen one shred of evidence that you could do 1/10th the job he could.

I don't think he was suggesting that he run the coaching search instead of Barta.

I know what he was suggesting.

Ghost, no offense, but that was pretty lame.

The OP wasn't suggesting he could do better, and the standard for Barta isn't whether he can do better than a message board poster.....it's whether he can do better than the average of his peer group, which I don't think he can.

Time will tell.

Fair enough. I can accept that.

I think Barta is a class guy, good administrator/fundraiser and did a great job at the press conference (not whining like Jamie 'the weasel' Pollard).

What I'm worried about is he seems ultra conservative, a wild night for him would be rearranging his neck ties.

So what he thinks would be a exciting hire isn't going to be the same as everyone else. This program needs a jump start and not another intravert, good mid major coach nobody's ever heard of before.

Who ****** in Billy's cheerios??
The only evidence I can offer, is that I wanted TL fired after last season.
See, I'm looking better already.;)
