I did the unthinkable and it hurt.

I went back and watched highlights and film of the teams from the mid 2000s.

Goodness. Kinnick Stadium was rocking, we were ranked and gave the opponents "6 Seconds of Hell" on Defense. Hit them hard, knocked them out. Relentless.

On Offense we were explosive, fun, creative (Seriously, yeah.) and fast.

Not to mention, Kirk looked like he was having a blast!

(Excuse my language here) but MAN, that was F'ING fun. It seems so far away, but it's really not. And now, the future looks so bleak. We don't have our Adrian Clayborn, our Ricky Stanzi, our Tyler Sash, Karl Klug..

Man, when you think about it.. we were blessed that era. We had some SOLID and FUN teams. So much fire and energy in Kinnick Stadium and it oozed out our players.

Don't mind me now, as I shed a tear of frustration and broken heartedness.

It's hard to believe just how long ago it was, and at the same time just how recent it was.

That's exactly what I thought. I mean, 2009 we were ranked #12.. and now we've absolutely fallen.

:(

I actually looked at you tube videos of basketball team from 80's 90's yesterday. Yes, its sad. Those team has tenacity, something this whole men's athletic program lacks.

Kirk has certainly lost his mojo..Its hard to remember the 3 yr streak of top 10 teams when you look at what he trots out onto the field now. We had tremendous special teams that blocked fg/punts.Great punt /ko returners. Our defense could pressure with just 4 man fronts. We had a dual threat qb that reminded me of Russell Wilson. Kfootball has gone to extreme conservative play.

I just think it shows how they have fallen off since NP's health went south. It also shows that KF has lost all coaches on his staff that could recruit.

it just appears KF and his coordinators have lost any aspect of excitement for the sport and should either should be let go or realize the situation and walk away.

Well, Frankly.. if you're a recruit, does Greg Davis showing up at your house excite you?

Does Phil Parker excite you?

Does Kirk Ferentz excite you?

Not to nitpick, but you see these videos of locker rooms and the coaches seem "hip" and jump around with players, get excited. And then you see the Hawkeyes Locker room and it's just emotionally dead.

I didn't know Norms nickname was mojo

Agree with the thread. 21 wins in a row at Kinnick too as I remember.

As far as 2009 goes.....

"Most" people point to the 2010 Wisky fake punt as the downturn of the program.
I happen to think it was the "knee down" @ O$U that revealed the ultimate doomed fate of the program under KF.

And yes, I was there. You could hear a pin drop in the Shoe, Iowa had the momentum, the ball, a timeout, 35 yards to get within FG range...then, well...you know...yes, the Orange Bowl was a nice salve to a season that should have been 12-0.

Was a great ride up until then.

What always stands out to me from those teams was that Iowa would run that boring Norm Parker base defense, but because they had a stud D-lineman or two that could create havoc on their own, it really made that defense shine. Then later on when nobody could pressure the QB the defense would get eaten alive

Watching Adrian Clayborn eat on Saturdays was so fun. Dude just ATE the Offenses up.

Remember when we knocked something like 4 starting Quarterbacks out of the game?

Just got off the phone with my buddy Collin Sandamen and he was saying Braxton is coming to iowa! Lol I wish.
