I.C. duals

Waste of a date. seriously, what's the point of that. it's during the day while people at work so the fans can't go. the hawks average match was a first period pin. what does iowa gain from this? confidence? no. you don't get confidence pinning someone significantly worse than you. why not wrestle UNI on a night like tonight. it'd be good for iowa, good for UNI, good for the fans, good for wrestling. the IC duals was none of those things.

I totally agree - what was the real purpose? Pad the stats? Let's get Schwab's UNI team scheduled. Little to no fan interest here - like pre-season NFL tickets.

The Hawks have done this for many years, the scores are lopsided, and I have no concern about it. I understand the comments made, but 1) Tom Brands and the athletic department certainly know better than the general public regarding what's best for the team, and 2) I believe I've heard Gable and Brands state that they feel they're doing a great service to small-school programs by giving them a dream opportunity to wrestle against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Carver. If they were scheduling numerous small schools, then I might agree with your criticism, but they're not.

The Hawks have some very big home duals on the schedule this year (Okla. St, Penn St, Minn.) as well as Mich., Mich. St, and Indiana.

KJ Pilcher (CR Gazette) tweeted that he would like to see UNI added to the Iowa City Duals schedule along wth two other smaller schools.

I think they should have UNI, Grand View & Wartburg. Attendance will be a heck of a lot better since they're all in state schools who are really good for their levels.

I would take Friday off to go watch that...and then if they do it like they did this year and have a basketball game at night and then a football game on Saturday...that's a lot of entertainment in two days. I think they could really make this into something, but as it stands now it's just a blood bath.

I don't really have a problem scheduling smaller schools. but there are plenty of smaller schools that would put up more of a fight than that, be of more value to iowa, and be significantly more interesting/entertaining for the fans. that's all.

UNI or Oregon St. would get me to take a day off work. As far as the Wartburg vs. Grandview, not as fun as you'd think, Wartburg wrestlers don't enroll for classes until the spring semester.

Wait what? Is this what Pin is always talking about with Wartburg?
