I ain't even mad, bro

So far we got a thread calling out Marble, a thread calling out Woodbury, a troll thread suggesting Fran to Rutgers, same troll with a poll about Mel to the NBA and others.

Well, despite all the angst from many......I ain't even mad, bro. We didn't shoot well. It happens. Baylor was much better than us. But like Activevadger and the clone trolls, and even many supposed hawk fans (trolls) like to point out, the NIT don't matter. No one noticed we lost. (not even the game announcers) No one noticed Baylor won. And had we won, it wouldn't matter anyway. What mattered was the growth this team made in the post season. And it made a lot. Despite what you saw last night.

I'm still excited about our team, our future, and next year's B1G race. I ain't even mad.

I'm not mad, bro, either.

I will say this tho... I do not much care for Baylor.

It was an entertaining season and a competitive one. When you don't shoot well you get beat. Against Baylor Iowa got near the basket numerous times and shots just would not drop. Those were high percentage shots and if Iowa makes them it is a close game. No one could make the three and it allowed Baylor to sag into the lane. Chalk it up to another learning experience. Hopefully Jok and Uthoff can improve the outside threat.

Already looking forward to next November.

This team will be sucessful in the B1G and the NCAA's in the years to come. In 2-3 years we will look back and say that this NIT run was the starting point.

Agree. With White,Gabe,Josh,Woody,Mikey,Sapp all having 2-3 more years to apply this experience, we will profit in future tournys,NCAA tournys.
This 4 game winning streak was much fun,and provide plenty of fuel for program momentum going forward. Always maintain momentum, and Fran has managed that....11 wins to 18 wins, to 25 wins, to 32 wins? If we get to 32 wins, we will be in the FF next year.

I think one of the best things/silver linings is that hopefully Iowa won't be too overhyped next year. Or even if they are they can realize that they got their butts whooped by Baylor and need to continue to work hard. Hopefully this puts a spur in the saddle to keep working hard during the offseason. And please please let Mikey's foot heal.

I watched the entire game and then was asleep 15 minutes after it was over. No worries here!

I also don't like Baylor. I've talked to so many people that didn't watch to the end. I told them they missed the best part...May showing that dirty mouthy little sh*t from Baylor how a real man handles a collision near mid court. May glances down and walks away. Harper (right name?) needs 2 guys to help him to the locker room. There was nothing dirty about that play.

The whole team, especially that dude, were jawin the whole night, was hoping to see a bit of blood from his nose. I just don't care for teams that jaw all the time and don't have any discipline from their coach in that matter.

Am I glad we lost? No, but I do think there is some potential upside to it.

We went far enough in the tourney to add a good deal of experience and figure out we can beat decent teams on the road and on neutral courts. That is a huge plus.

Moreover, we got our rear end handed to us by Baylor, and I think that has the potential to stick in the players' craws during the off-season and motivate them more than if they had won last night.

Playing in the NIT helped the team learn that it is good and can play anywhere. Losing to Baylor is incentive to get better.

One hell of a season all things considered... just need to keep building the program.
Good things are coming.

+1. Last night's game was a bit rough, getting blown out in your season finale. The season had it's ups and downs, but consider it a definite success and it ended with a pretty nice post-season run. As you say, just keep plugging away and moving forward, and the Hawks will be in the big dance next year.

Nope, I'm not PO'ed about the game last night. I just want to see the program continue to get better.

Like Fran said in his post game, these kids will remember this experience, and they will become hungry for more success...helluva season...it made winter a little more enjoyable....as for the Baylor players---whatevs, I think McCabe was trying his best to start something and May knocked that little pr*ck guard on his a$$....I rather enjoyed that...

Typical behavior for the Baylor Men's BB program. Thug U of the Big 12...

Bummed they couldn't shot better and make a game of it but not mad.

This team is headed in the right direction, and they will be better next year. The last three years it has been nothing but progresion. I am looking forward to Hawkeye basketball next season.

IS IT HERE YET?

Some have chalenges separating anger with disappointment, etc.

I don't like seeing Woodbury attempt any shot outside the lane. But it doesn't mean I think he's a bad player. I just didn't like some shot selection...and he's exceeded my expectations for this season. Marble had a rough night, but without him Iowa struggles to be a .500 team. So it goes.

It was not a good night. But it was a great season.

IMO the way we missed shot after shot outside the paint, I'd of rather seen everyone shooting outside the lane. But I'll give credit to where it was due, Baylor was a very solid team that gave us a beatdown of epic proportions.
