Hypothetical "What would you give up for...?"

Just for argument sake it would be a 1/4 game. You're saying a Bama/Clemson vs Iowa game would have better TV rating then a Bama/Clemson vs Texas or OU?
I want what you're smoking

I'm saying Iowa, ratings-wise, will equal or better those of other B1G teams. The hogwash originally stated that only an undefeated team of scUM, O$U, Wiscy or P$U would make the CFP. Any other undefeated B1G team would be left out. It was later relented to include M$U, as well. "Ratings" was cited as the principal reason.

Besides, we keep telling Nebraska to stop living in the past, Texas ain't crap. Maryland has been beating the crap out of them.
Ratings aren't going to suffer no matter who plays, because it's like the super bowl. Everyone who is going to watch, is going to watch regardless of who's playing.

Theres a lot of possibilities, what ifs and maybes but I think the best way to make the playoffs with one loss would be losing to Iowa State.( I know, I know, I don't like it either). But if Iowa State lives up to preseaon rankings and finishes in the top 25, then an early season loss on the road to the clowns would be forgiveable in the eyes of the selection committee. That leaves us with road wins at Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern, and a home win over Penn State. Then beat a highly ranked Ohio State in the Big Ten championship games I think we would be in. We'd have enough quality wins to trump our one loss.

Peerok (whatever that name means) has the correct angle here. For one thing Big 10 games are way more important than a non-conf game, even to the clowns. Going 9-0 in the Big 10 would be amazing. Lose to a decent Clown team on the road early is an ok thing.

I dont even think about the CFP because there is so much political crap involved with it.

This.

A 13-0 Iowa would still be seeded fourth against a 1-loss Clemson, Georgia or Oklahoma, and a 2-loss Bama. Unless/until the "playoff" favors Northern schools by allowing them to host, it's still a popularity contest.

Wouldn't it be sweet, though, to see a 2-loss Bama have to play AT a B1G school in December?! And it would be even sweeter to see their fans trying to deal with it!

Bama is pretty good in the trenches most years, so I don't think that would be too bad for them. Clemson, on the other hand, might have some difficulties given their passing attack. But last year their d-line was so good I don't know that any northern team would have been able to put up more than 14 points on them on a cold day. Notre Dame only managed 3.

An undefeated team an any P5 conference will never be left out of the playoffs. The only possibly way is having 4 or 5 undefeated P5 teams AND and undefeated Notre Dame.

ND needs to be forced into the ACC title game if ND is 11-1 or better and the winner of the lesser ACC division is 9-3 or worse. That way they could have taken their Clemson whooping in the conference title game and OSU could have had another chance to lose to Clemson by 31.
