Hurts again.

I just don't understand what we were thinking at the end of that game...we waited way too long to foul them, and we had over 3 seconds to get a shot off. there was no need for mccabe to chuck it down the court. hopefully next year these types of games turn into wins because it is hard to watch all these close losses.
 
I don't know what was worse.

A. Iowa's Perimeter defense
B. The last inbounds play
C. Archie's free throw attempt
 
What a horrible way to end the game. Just like football, absolutely horrible clock management.

Down by 4 with like 30 seconds left........we don't foul until 15 seconds remain??

Unbelievable. We had a chance to win, too....but instead, we have 3 seconds remaining on the clock and on the other side of the court.
 
I have no idea what the staff and team was doing at the end of the game....waiting 15 seconds to foul down 4....then throwing a laetner hail mary pass with 3.3 on the clock....wow.

The pass hit Cole in the hands and the wings were there for a decent look at 3. I don't have a problem with it.
 
I agree on not fouling. Horrible coaching waiting that long.

I kind of liked the last play call. Only problem is McCabe overthrew Cole on the pass. If he hit Cole on the free throw line Gatens was wide open for a three. Watched the replay and Gatens was coming down left wing to catch a tipped pass for Cole. Stoermer, I believe, was on the other wing. Both were open for great looks, just pass was little to far for Cole to catch and tip.

Stoermer not as open as first though. Gatens was and coming in late was also Cartwright at top of key. Just overthrown in bounds pass
 
3.3 seconds left, down 3, and some of you guys think we have time to just jog up the court?

There's no choice but to go long. If you go short you either won't get a good look, or NW will foul and not allow the 3-point shot to be attempted. That play was there and a shot would have been possible, but Cole just didn't handle the pass.
 
I was confused by the end of game play at first, then I realized that if Cole catches the ball perfectly he has either Stoermer or Gatens on either side of the 3 point line moving down into the corner for 3, so I didn't mind the end of game. Just sucks we didn't have a TO to call.
 
3.3 seconds is plenty of time for someone like cartwright to run up the court and get a half way decent shot. I just don't like that pass because it would have been nice if he caught it and passed it to the perimeter, but that is a tough pass to make. It seems like a long throw like that rarely works out...

This I understand the play ALMOST worked from looking at replay. but it's a tough play/pass to make.

With less than 3 seconds NW would foul Bryce in the backcourt automatically,and it would be game over.
This was the best play for actually tying the game up.

We had a brain cramp on not fouling quicker,but the end of the game play was fine.
