Hungry?

Maybe not hungry anymore.

The comments below the video are interesting to read.

When was the last time you seen employees come out and wash and sanitize the kiosk? Studies have shown traces of E.coli on the screens. Why? Your kidding me right?

Next time you go into a SAM"s or Costco bathroom take your time washing your hands or taking out your comb combing your hair and watch how many people stop to wash their hands. Lol, Kiosk, those doors handles you or your kids grab to walk into the restaurants, table tops? How about getting extra butter on your popcorn at the moving theater? Pushing that little red button to get that extra butter on you popcorn. How about using hand rails to walk up and down stairs, or using those adjustable recliner chairs at the movie theaters. Where have the fingers been that touch those same buttons. Then you reach in and grab a handful of popcorn or that cheese burger after using the kiosk.

We carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer every time we go out to eat or to a movie. It's a damn shame that people just don't give a damn about others enough to wash their hands after going to the bathroom.

NASTY!!!!!

Oh, yeah then there's church, Hand shaking, door handle turning, pushing open doors, handling hymn books.

NASTY!!!

The last time I ate at Red Lobster it was nasty...not at all surprised they're toast. Appleby's used to be a hoppin' place, but the last time I went there it was like a ghost town and the scene was so weird we just turned around and walked out...they're toast too. Somehow, Olive Garden has managed to buck the trend...at least around here.

I wear rubber gloves everywhere, all the time

Purchased thousands of them on sale at Amazon

I even put a clean pair on before going to bed

Or maybe not, perhaps a pipe dream of mine

I really do wach my hands All the Time, every time I return home the first thing i do is wash my
hands

Have had my sons and daughters do so also, started them as soon as they could walk

Consequently, I never get a cold or the flu ever...

Knock on Wood

now the sticker shock is a factor. I'm always amazed at how much food costs when eathing out.

Prices started rising about 4/5 months ago and are continuing to rise

With on end in sight

I have started to buy produce at Fareway, certainly seems to be better than Hy-Vee

First noticed it with Driscolls Strawberries

They seemed be be somewhat flavorless from Hy-Vee

Bought some from Fareway and they were sweet, just as they used to be

Cuties, Halos, and Mandarins are much better from Fareway

The last ones from Hy-Vee were mushy

I'm glad I so rarely ever eat out.. I just don't. If I could kick the habit of eating as much frozen shit as I do I'd be in way better shape. Problem today is to actually eat healthy it takes time and effort to do it not to mention more $. Society just doesn't make that doable.

You go out in public anywhere now airports, malls, anywhere and out of 10 people you see how many are way overweight/out of shape? 9 of em? All of em just about? 30-50 yrs ago it wasn't anything like that at all. I remember NFL lineman being like 250-275 lbs and people said they were fat. Now they weren't as strong/fast and all that as todays athletes but they weren't fat. Besides the exceptions like the Fridge etc.

Society has evolved and it's not for the healthier that's for sure. We're more worried about popping pills to grow hair get hard ons and stay skinny then we are eating healthy so we feel good and actually are healthy. The one good thing we've done better about is tobacco. You don't see as many smokers out and about now. When I grew up they were everywhere. Now they vape I suppose but it's not like how it used to be at all.

If you live long enough either heart disease or cancer is gonna get ya. Depending on family history it can almost be a coin flip. How we take care of ourselves kinda dictates that.

I can't remember the last time I sat down at a chain restaurant for a meal (other than a quick drive-through while traveling). We cook at home 90% of the time, and when we do go out, we go somewhere local. There's enough good food in Iowa City to eat, I don't see a need to go to the chains.

Basically overpriced garbage

For 2 people $75 is my limit as a non-drinking couple. There's no meal worth it to me for more than that anywhere. I can make food at home at the same level or better, and when I'm out on vaca etc. I can't stand to waste money on that. I'd rather pay for something fun but that's just me...everyone's different. Luckily my GF is a serious tight ass like me, it's one major thing we both agree on. It has however caused some conflict in the family because her broth, sister, and their families are fairly well-to-do so we're always the odd ones out when it's time to do stuff together or go places as a family group (I have no family myself). We usually go separate ways on vacas which is ok with us.

I'll pay good money for a meal if I cannot replicate what they are doing. Its gotta be a different experience. My favorites are any of those Brazilian Steakhouses where they slice all the meat onto your plate at your table, and The Melting Pot (fondue). I can't do either of those at home.

But, to drop 80 buck on a T-bone at a normal restaurant that I could buy myself for $18 at the store and grill on my grill? No thanks.

I’m in agreement with Fry, other than maybe a high end steak joint. I’m not living a baller lifestyle, so I am not covering the entire tab, but a round of drinks, and paying for my meal…I will spend a little bit of coin for that.

Odds of me being in a Ruth‘s Chis or something better, no pun intended, is pretty rare. So spending more than 80-100 bucks at a restaurant is not going to happen.

Recently visited the Bay Area and took my son and daughter-in-law out to a hip, happenin' place known for great cocktails in downtown Berkeley for dinner on a Friday night. Place was hoppin'. Total tab for 5 drinks and multiple shared courses was $181, the most I've ever paid for dinner out. But gotta say, the drinks, the food, and the place were all unique, excellent & memorable.

Agreed. I can make a better steak at home in my cast iron than any restaurant I've had.

I'll pay a bit of a premium for things I can't replicate, or can't replicate well. Good seafood, Asian dishes that require ingredients I'll only use once at home, unique local fare that I want to try. That's about it.

The pork is definitely better at Fareway than HV or other places. Been doing ground pork for burgers more than beef!

It is Fareway and Aldi for us for some time now. Used to get all my beef at a butcher in Cuba City Wisconsin (Northside Hawk knows exactly of who I am speaking of), but save for the really special occasion, rib eyes and t-bones are few and far between now…..

Since I am serving one person, me, I honestly don’t pay much attention to grocery prices. We have Festival Foods here in the Sheboygan area and they kick ass With great variety. When I go out, it is usually at a couple of local family owned restaurants that serve from 6-2 pm. For $12-15, for mostly breakfast dishes, which are delicious, I am full.
Dinner is small, a variety of healthy and unhealthy fare.

When I want to splurge a bit, nearly all of my meat comes from the Amana Meat Market. 6 oz tenderloins, an occasional rib eye, and I take their Iowa pork tenderloins to our SD pheasant hunt and to Canada for our fishing crew. Another treat is Amana pork, which I like as much as beef.

When I do go out at evening time, it’s typically with my kids or with some friends. I don’t care what I spend. I stop after two beers. No dessert except for an occasional grasshopper. I love seafood. Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster, Sea Trout, Flounder, Halibut. Fresh water walleye, or cod or haddock, are frequent choices. Wisconsin fish fry’s are top shelf, light hand breaded lots of flakey pure fish!

I put on about 35,000 miles in road trips every year. I avoid chains on the road, but it is mostly restaurant food. I am careful.

If I haven’t bored you to death, thanks for reading. I have enjoyed the variety of posts in this thread.

We never go to Ruth Chris as a regular thing. We only go there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We make it more affordable by buying the Ruth Chris discount coupons at Costco, That saves us about 35% on the total bill. I still cringe a little when the waiter brings us our bill, but I just want the Mrs. to know I appreciate all that she does and for this one night a year we get to eat and be treated like the wealthy people eat on a regular basis.

Good for you, you and your family deserve it.

For the wife and I with the Ruth Chris by the time we pay the tip along with our Ruth Chris coupon from Costco we are in for $250. We both are very, very frugal people. I guess we have spent too much time at Blank Children's hospital in Des Moines. The wave to kids at the end of the first quarter has very personal meaning to me. My heart goes out to Fran and his wife for having to deal with cancer in their family.

I hope all those doctors enjoy their weekly visit to Ruth Chris on our dime.
