Rob, if you saw my posts, I certainly thought Iowa was going to do well. OSU didn't have much of a road resume. Going into the game some of the OSU fans were saying they were concerned about Barrett right, Barrett left and play action pass as their plays. Iowa historically has done well against such QBs.
I think they've had an upgrade in talent speed.
My criticisms were specifically about play calling and coaching this year. And they did much better of wrapping up tackles unlike earlier in the year.
I didn't see KF opening things up. Glad he didn't play for a chance at a 4th quarter win.
The bigger question is which Iowa game plan will we see going forward.
Somewhere along the Meyer said something about being baited.
I honestly didn't see your posts. Crazy time of year for me with football-basketball overlap.
You're not telling me you called for a 55-24 beatdown, though, right? I think it's pretty safe to say that nobody saw complete domination coming.![]()

It reminded me most if the feeling I had at the Big House in '02. That was kind of KF's breakthrough moment. The Hawkeyes manhandled Michigan that day and I don't think many people saw that coming. I think yesterday was more impressive, though.
Realizing that Meyer looked dazed or confused after the game tells me they were overlooking IA.
That’s what the OSU center inferred in the post-game presser. The two players we spoke with in the postgame pretty much said that was the case. They said they didn't practice well this week.
I thought I remember hearing during the game there was a discussion in the production meetings for the broadcast that if Meyer or any of the coaches got any whiff of OSU looking past Iowa, Meyer was going to go nuclear. Does anybody else remember hearing that? Might just be coach-speak or the players faked it well enough to appease the coaches...last two posts suggest it's entirely possible some of the players may have been going through the motions this week.

I thought I heard or read, however, a couple of OSU journalists say that Meyer and OSU coaches were put off when they were asked if OSU over-looked Iowa.
Meyer said he didn’t see anything in practice that would indicate a letdown.
I can't wait for next year when the game is in Columbus. You can bet your house that they will have this game circled on their calendar. Hopefully Iowa will be able to step up to the challenge. I would like nothing more than for Iowa to become OSU's thorn in their ass like Northwestern is for us. Beating teams like Ohio State is how you earn respect in the college football world.
Because of the wacky B1G scheduling, Iowa doesn't play in Columbus until '20. That's the next time the Hawkeyes face OSU.
True.OSU center Billy Price was one of the players who spoke. He said he felt they didn't practice well enough.
I think the players have a better sense of that than do the coaches. IMO, the coaches don't want to admit it because it's an indictment of them when they don't have their team ready to go.
