Howe: Kids Day Practice Thoughts, Observations

I don't know if anybody has mentioned but A.J Ep had a nice interception on Saturday. He broke off his D end spot and drifted into coverage and had a nice interception. It was a very freaky athletic play.

Rob, you have the video for this play?

It's in the practice video.

The refs waived it the INT, saying it hit he ground. The QBs actually had 2 or 3 INTs dropped. They were fortunate.

Or the two NFL bound OTs and the interior OL has made huge strides in their run blocking ... and/or the RBs are getting the whole "vision" thing. The DL is going to be just fine.

Could be, they certainly couldn't get worse than they were last season. Maybe they have some new schemes too. I hope that I'm wrong.

Young is a tank who has gotten better at reading the holes and looks quicker this year. No way Goodson passes Sargent, Young or IKM, but he shows quickness and good hands. He just has some really good backs in front of him. He may get his shot through attrition, but I hope the top three stay healthy.
Who are the really good backs ahead of him? I wouldn't say we have a really good back ahead of him. Serviceable maybe, but we don't have a game changer at rb. Definitely nothing that is a threat to take one the distance on any given play.

Looks like the biggest worries on defense are the inexperience of Kaevon Merriweather at free safety and D.J. Johnson at CASH. Looks like Merriweather didn't play football in high school until his junior year.
