Howe: Iowa Football '21 Game-By-Game Predictions

so if I counted correctly, that adds up to 9-3 overall and 7-2 in conference, with losses to ISU, Wiscy and Minny.

so does Iowa once again finish 2nd in the west?

Agree with your picks but will flip the Wildcats frustrating us again and us doing the same to Minny. Other than that, I'm gonna say we might trip up against Indiana but I hope not.

imo, 7-2 wins the division. Worst case scenario you tie for first and it comes down to tiebreakers.

Which means second. Have to beat Wisconsin to win the West...even if they lose 1 or 2

Agreed. Hoping to push back against what you were saying I took a look at Wisconsin's schedule...unless Mertz is total dogshit and they lose 3 or 4 conference games it really does look like it will take beating Wisconsin to win the West.

Yeah, not unlike tOSU in the East...the West goes through Wisconsin more often than not.

I don't see Iowa losing to Minny. But I do have them at 8-4. With losses to Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa State and a team they shouldn't lose to

We're due to lose to Minnesota, but I think we win in Madison.

There must be something about Admiral Fleck that Captain Kirk is exploiting. They seem to have more talent than us but Ferentz is coaching rings around him in recent head to head match-ups. By the fourth quarter of last year's Friday night lights game the Gophs were crying "no mas".

Look back over the history of the rivalry, regardless of the current state of the programs, and you won't find too many winning streaks either way of five games or more.

We are now on a six game heater against them.
Being that it is at home I find a gopher victory hard to swallow.

Minny will be hard to stop. Their D is what is vulnerable but PJ will have them balling.

We'll see is Brian can get this offense cranked up in September...a new concept. This year it is necessary.

Why should Iowa ever lose to rodents?

See my above post. But Ferentz seems to have PJ''s number. One year he will win a shootout, the next a defensive struggle, the next Stanley goes wild and the coaches reach into their bag of tricks.

As for jNW it's not like they beat us every year. Far from it. It's just that when we lose to them it's usually because Fitz finds something that works and hammers it. He doesn't panic. Eventually the rock breaks and it's smug Pat with that smug grin on the sidelines, telling everyone how much he respects and admires Kirk when the way he coaches against Kirk would suggest the exact opposite.

We are not losing to Indiana. For once in our lives, KF is going to have these boys ready to play at the beginning of the season. With those first two games, camp has got to be a helluva a focused place right now. I think we will be fired up and ready to take Indiana at home.

And once again we have BTN saying the Rodents will be a contender. This is the same group that's been touting the virtues of Nebraska.
