The Iowa coaches are hyping up walk-on receiver Nick Easley. If you're a Hawkeye fan, that's a sign that it's time to pay attention to the newcomer from Newton, writes HN's Rob Howe:

I FOR one love the Wr. I think Iowa will look very NE. Multiple TE sets and short passing routes. I look forward to seeing This O with current personal.

Sounds like we shouldn't let his size fool us. He seems to be quite the athlete and weight room warrior. He's broke some weight room records for WRs already. Granted that doesn't always translate to the field and he needs a QB to get it to him. But we sorely need a WR to step up and it sounds like he's been standing out. I look forward to seeing a bit of him on Friday

Riley McCarron was a weightroom warrior and clocked a 4.36 40yd dash at Iowa's pro day....I doubt Nick is more accomplished, physically, than Riley....and it didn't seem to help Riley all that much. But maybe it was GDGD's offense....

Riley had some guns on him that he liked to show off and yeah I don't think anybody realized he could run like that... I started to get curious of how fast he was when he had that long TD against Nebraska. He just pulled away from guys on it. But we just never got him the ball in space much. How much of that was his own play, the play calling, the qb, etc etc etc.... It's a combination of everything that had the results end up what they were. Now with the clean slate we'll see just how overhauled everything will be and if the newbies are capable of making plays

Ok...5'11" 203 pounds is a solid dude. Not sure what his speed numbers are, but strength shouldn't be an issue. Please stay healthy. I was shocked by the 200lb figure actually...he doesn't look that big.

I wouldn't put too much on the coaching staffs' hype on the guy. KF has spoken highly of a lot of high energy high effort guys who didn't translate that to the field and we're also talking about a coach who has mocked his best player over his weight the last 2 years even though it's very clear AW was doing just fine at that weight

I'd probably side with the other side of this argument. It's pretty rare that a player who hasn't played a down yet, gets this kind of attention. A new coach has no reason to be playing any games with the media. He likes what he sees. I'm optimistic.

I agree with this. KF will typically say nice things about a player if asked about that particular player, but he rarely will single a player out, unsolicited, unless it's really warranted.
