Howe: Give Me LeShun Daniels Ahead of Joe Mixon All Day

FWIW most NFL teams now have 3 to 5 RB's. They are looking for a power guy, a speed guy and someone to catch out of the backfield. There are only 3 guys in the league right now that can do all 3. Mixon can't do all 3 either so the 1st round talk by scouts or experts is stupid. My opinion is Daniels is your prototypical one cut power back. There are 11 teams in the league that need a power back right now. I see him going in the 5th or 6th round to one of those teams and see him getting some carries year 1 or 2. RB has one of the lowest career longevity averages so NFL teams are adapting. They are favoring playing young RB's and using them up before the inevitable happens.

That's why I used the word maybe.

So, we should just dismiss an incident where a world class athlete punches a woman in the face, caving it in? Maybe I would be saying take Mixon if he was a choir boy but he's not. That's the point you missed completely.

As I wrote, hopefully the guy has turned things around. Also as I wrote, the NFL will keep giving chances to unsavory characters in the name of winning games. And the fans will cheer them on.

I also disagree with your scouting report on Daniels. He breaks plenty of tackles, his vision is good and has shown good speed on the second level. He had two really long TD runs called back this year. He's not flashy but he's not a slug either. Mixon is overrated as a running back, IMO.

Lastly, I don't think the NFL scouts are going to be making a decision based on my column. So, I don't need to leave it to them. It's my opinion.

I agree with the tone of this post. BTW, speaking of character, do you think Colin K. will be in the NFL next year?
