Howe: Game-By-Game Predictions for Iowa Football '20

What? No blowouts? Ha. Looks like your picks are straight chalk, which is understandable, but after the season is over I'd love to see an analysis of all college games and see if there was a greater % of underdog wins, the cause of which could arguably be C-19. I see the West Division as the most competitive top-to-bottom since its creation with these teams. MN, WI, IA, NW all have the talent to win it, and IL, NB, and Purdue all have the ability to beat any West team on any given day. Should be a great season, if all the players can stay healthy.

We wouldn't have that 800 lb gorilla if Shaun Beyer wouldnt've fucked that punt up in '18.

I don't give two shits about OSU or Penn State until we beat Wisconsin.

I was less mad at the MSU title game than I was at Shaun Beyer.
Yeah for sure. Plays like that are unexcusable. Know where you are on the field with your eyes open. MSU game was brutal though... That last drive was like a slow death by papercuts.

When Beyer backed into that punt I was at a get together at my best friend's house and I yelled GODFUCKINDAMMIT really loud amongst a bunch of people I don't know. I do that all the time when I'm around by football buds but this was more of a social deal with wives and stuff instead of a football watch party. He had some folks from his work too who weren't football people.

Got lots of side eye from the Karens after my little outburst. There were a handful of dudes like me who had mini flipouts too so at least I wasn't the only one, and the wives in our group of friends know how we get and roll with it, but 100% there were some people discussing me on their drives home.

F 'em.

I almost fell asleep reading those picks, Howe. Not only chalk, but probably within a point of the Vegas line for each game. :)

I think we sneak either Minny or Wisky, probably the former. I will go 6-2.

The crazy part is there will be almost no home field advantage beyond just travel. The only long haul and time zone change is Penn State. And I think we all have that one as a loss anyway. Point is, one could seriously consider every game a neutral site game given the lack of fans in the stands. That will hurt teams like Nebraska, Iowa and Wisky the most given traditional crowd noise.

I'm glad I'm not a pundit that has to come up with these impossible predictions.

I know this. The D should be tough as nails, as good as or maybe even better than last year. If the O can show improvement, and the potential is there, we should be in good shape.

Yes, I don't see any blowouts either but there is no one on this schedule that we can't beat.

I worry a little about the pass rush without AJE. My hope is that Daviyon Nixon can bring some from the inside and Logan Lee plays beyond his years. Golston will receive a lot of attention from the opposition.

Evans is intriguing, for sure. Not sure he's an every-down player based on what I've seen to date but guys do get better and more well-rounded as they get older. I saw him working out a lot on his own at a local part I walk through during the spring.

Wagonner was pretty highly touted out of high school too, hopefully he can contribute some pressure too
