Howe: Game-By-Game Predictions for Iowa Football ’20

Bummer. Hope it's not anything too serious. Your predictions look pretty healthy, altho I think Rondale Moore departing Purdue makes that game easier: better to deal with 1 outstanding WR instead of 2. I also think Nebraska is going to put up a lot of points this year -- lots of returning experience on the O-line and at QB...every team that plays them is gonna have to score over 24 pts to win -- and many will. Moving the MN game from Friday night with a full, crazy stadium compared to a quiet Saturday game is huge...I gave the Hawks zero chance to win on Friday night, and still have to favor the Gophers, but now expect a much closer game.

So far Iowa is definitely on the plus side as far as losing players go.

Minnesota lost their best WR and overall player
Purdue lost their best WR and overall player
Maryland lost their starting QB
Michigan St lost a 3 year starter on the OL
PSU lost their best defensive player

Bateman and Moore leaving has a major effect on the West. Things just keep getting easier for the Badgers.

I think 6-4 would be a disappointment. I know we have a new QB. But this team is really solid from top to bottom. I cannot think of another season where we didnt have 2 position groups that lost a bunch and were weak. I feel QB is our only question mark this season. And the fact we are a ball control offense that requires a QB to manage plays in our favor,.

Two exceptions to Rob's take on the 2020 schedule;

Purdue - This will be a tough road game. I think our defense is better and without Moore...I think our offense is better. This one comes down to turnovers. We have less. Win.

Minnesota - KF owns PT Barnum. We are going to have to outscore them. I don't care if Bateman is gone...they are massive on the OL...and they have a QB who is accurate. They are going to score points. That being said...I like this game alot more now than I did with the full schedule. Minny has two warm up games prior to Iowa in the regular schedule...now they don't. That takes away the preparation advantage. I like our chances...but Petras has to be the man.

How the hell does Wisconsin get those crossovers. Geez...that's ridiculous. I think we get them this year though.

Maryland also lost 2 or 3 of their starting olineman. Glad Tua's brutha can run, he might need to, to survive this year. We will crush purdue. Crush them i tell you. Rondale being out means you don't have to worry about where he is at on every play yuo just have to lock in on bell. I think we lose to osu, beat minny without bateman, and like always the whole sha-poodle comes down to iowa-wiscy. Can we exercise the demons or not?

Moore also is a killer in the return game.

One game I think a lot of folks will chalk up a win will be Northwestern. That's dangerous.

Agreed. The QB transfer Ramsey from Indiana is a perfect fit for that offense -- they're likely to win more games than projected.
