When is Taylor eligible for the NFL. Not saying he will get drafted, but he will get his chance.
No doubt this year will be pivotal for his career. If he avoids injuries I see him shining brightly. He has that extra gear that is rare. Reminds me a lot of Walter Payton who had that extra gear. He presence in the backfield will garnish a lot of attention which will open huge passing lanes just past the linebackers for passing in the eight to fifteen yard range. That's a great range as it puts tremendous stress on the secondary.Dane Belton
His skill set is so coveted in the NFL right now. I don't think he can match Amani Hooker, but if he is close....he gone.
Rob's list I would take Goodson off of it. I think he would have to be really special to get drafted. I am talking 1200-1500 yards rushing and catching 50-60 passes. imo, he is in the same position as Laporta, where QB play will dictate a lot.
Has there been a faster combination of RB/TE/WRs for the Hawks ever than what Brian will have to work with this year? If Petras can improve his accuracy, this team could be outstanding.Of course a lot of this will fall on Brian to have the intellect and skill set to expose opponents to this threat. That's questionable in my opinion, but I hope he can finally start putting all of his football experience together and show us what an offensive coordinator is suppose to be about.
Has there ever been a team with two tight ends drafted in the NFL within the same year and a quarterback picked as one of the nations best in the pre-season? How did that work out for us? Just saying.Has there been a faster combination of RB/TE/WRs for the Hawks ever than what Brian will have to work with this year? If Petras can improve his accuracy, this team could be outstanding.
I'm thinking these might be rhetorical in nature.Has there ever been a team with two tight ends drafted in the NFL within the same year and a quarterback picked as one of the nations best in the pre-season? How did that work out for us? Just saying.
Imagine if he had posted that those tight ends were both first round draft picks......BigD, you are, without question, a glass-half-empty kind of guy.
Maybe so, many people who know me personally have classified me as a realist. Not to positive and not to negative. Politically I am a registered independent after being active in the other two main parties. I try not to get into those type of discussions on here.Imagine if he had posted that those tight ends were both first round draft picks......
I think Jack Campbell is poised for a huuuuuuuuuge year. But here's a question I want to pose. Is it not of the realm of possibility that he could play TE at the next level?
Just food for thought.
Chuck was the perfect QB for (then offensive coordinator) Bill Snyder's system. He was accurate, could hit the touch passes over LB's and in front of DB's, and threw sideline routes well, especially when he let it go before the receiver made his break. Once he got experienced with his progressions, the rest was history. Having burners like Dave Moritz, Ronnie Harmon when he played wideout, and Robert Smith didn't hurt either. It just opened things up more for the tight ends and the intermediate routes.Maybe so, many people who know me personally have classified me as a realist. Not to positive and not to negative. Both of the two head coaches have attributes that I really like and other attributes that I don’t care for.
Ii have said from the beginning that I felt Goodson has the potential to be one of the best to ever wear an Iowa uniform at the running back position. I’ve pointed out similarities he has with how Walter Payton ran the ball. I’d say that’s pretty optimistic.
I also said after Garza’s freshmen year that he would go on to be one of the premier centers in the Big Ten Conference. Everyone probably thought I was smoking something when I posted that, lol. Again a very optimistic position to take.
So my comments have been my honest opinion of what I see. Do I always get them right? Nope. Do I always get them wrong? Nope.
I am experiences frustration however because as one poster said “I am getting g older and maybe running out of time” to ever see what all sports fans hope to see in their lifetime.for the teams they cheer on.
Just to get to a championship game in both sports would be satisfactory for me.
Now let’s jump back to football real quick. I am concerned with what has come out about how the QB’s have been looking. Yes it’s early, but I believe your about my age so both of us are old enough to remember Chuck Long. After his freshman year there was never any discussions about inconsistency. The kid was ready to go, every spring and fall after that. Chuck was a gamer and maybe one of the best that I have ever seen at QB in my lifetime as a Hawkeye fan (raving Iowa lunatic). I love Hawkeye Sports!!! It comes with excitement, joy, sadness, and disappointment. Just running out of years, thus impatience can rear its ugly head.
I actually am more up on football this season much, much more than the next basketball season. After following both sports for over fifty years I just know things don’t always pan out the way they are anticipated.
I realized the comment I made may have come off a little negative but I was just trying to temper expectations having been through this so many times before. Most recently the NCAA basketball tournament. Everyone and their dog had said if Iowa didn’t get to the sweet sixteen with Garza it would be considered a major failure. Well it was at the very least very disappointing for many of us.
Life goes on as a sports fan and with every new year there is new hope. At least we certainly hope for the best.
