How to contain Draymond Green

Jarryd Cole, who had that duty a few times, has some advice. He just tweeted the following:

Force the ball out of Draymond's hands (no assist). When he gets it, make him go right. Better finisher going left... #scoutingreport

Nice! I would like either White or McCabe deny him the ball. Dont let him catch it and if he takes those guys in the post there needs to be an immediate double.

Let their other guys beat us, especially with the loss of Dawson.

Green was good last year but he is playing at another level this year. He seems to have improved his perimeter game quite a bit and is now a consistent 3 pt shooter. I didn't check %'s but from what I have seen you definitely have to guard him beyond 3 pt range.

Green is shooting 40.5% from 3pt range to go along with 3.5 assists per game, but averaging 3 TO's per game also. I like Cole's assessment, make him go right, I also like denying him the ball. We need another HUGE defensive game out of McCabe today. I think it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, this is a SUPER tough match up for us!

Make him beat you with his jump shot. If he drives, he's dangerous. He's such a good passer and finisher around the rim. Whoever is on him should be instructed to sag and shade his left hand. If we lose with Green hitting jump shots, I can live with that.

Green is a 1st team All American player this year, with the addition of a deadly three shot. Jarryd knows his stuff, tho. Deny, and force right. Try to draw charges. Do not give him space at all. Zach has his hands full, but there is no one else for this assignment.
Just have to pray he does not have a great nite shooting from the arc or the line.
Nix is coming on strong also...and we have nobody nearly big enough to bang with him..but Brommer will have to do...time to earn that scholly,Andruw.

draymond green is the biggest flopper in the big ten. We need guys, if we set up in the zone ready to flop on their own and draw some charges. If we can be first to flop and get into him mentally, we have a chance. I think if he picks up 2 quick fouls early in the game, we really have a chance.

Secondly, we have to get mean in the paint. These guys absolutely beat us up and we just let them. When we foul, foul hard. When we take it to the whole, go hard and guys need to crash the boards like their season depends on it. This, to me, is by far our weakest area. Aaron White, Basabe need at least 7 boards each. I think Zach McCabe is way way undersized for this game, so I'd like him to focus on drawing charges and being an assist/steal guy today.

I think the refs will let people bang inside today. They tend to let Mich st play when it comes to the paint. Where we can get them is on the perimeter. If it goes inside, we better bring our Beast Mode.

If Eddie Hightower does the game, he does call a lot of fouls....downside,he has Zach on his crap list, and will probably charge him with a foul in the layup line before the game. If it happens to be Valentine....forget it, we are done,as he see BB as Football, tackling allowed.

Well, then, (and I agree with you), we are screwed today.
