How the hell did that just happen?

If we score touchdowns the 3 times we are inside the 10 and Powell doesn't fumble, we would have been up 42-0 after the blocked punt for a td! It's amazing that it's even possible to lose a game where you were only a few plays away from that kind of lead. Where is the nearest fire Kirk thread?

That game is a true fireable offense...and I am not an advocate of a quick trigger, either.

Firing Kirk at this point is far from a quick trigger. Doesn't matter though. Kirk is Keanu Reeves when it comes to dodging bullets. If he ends up on the hot seat, Jake will just get hurt forcing his hand with CJ and he will come in and cool Kirk's seat. Then he will get another extension due to random luck.

How did it happen? Well, if you want the full story, it began with the day O'Keefe took his talents to South Beach. Davis called a number of plays today that simply weren't going to work or if they were well designed, he lacked the players on the field to execute. Look no further than Jake's awful game for evidence of that. Missed wide open guys. Locked onto receivers and got picked in red zone. Etc.

We just need to execute better! We have to come away with at least 3 points down in the red zone. If we clean up those small mistakes we can turn 7-5 into 9-3 or 10-2 next season!

And after Davis and Scherff graduate and CJ transfers, we can manage to lose close games, liek UNI, Ball State and Pitt. This team was a heckuva lot closer to 4-8 than it was to 10-2.

They will be difficult to replace but we must adopt a "next man up" mentality. Those 2nd stringers need to seize the opportunity and work hard before next season to step up.
