How quickly we forget

A week ago we had pronounced this team's offense on life support and braced ourselves for 5 weeks of pain. And now, the conversation shifts to BTCCG and playoffs. Playoffs! Great stuff.

So the question is, has 4 quarters of good football made you forget all about the other 28 stinkers ? Will GDGD stay ductaped to the wall in the pressbox?

I'll hang up and listen.

sorry, nothing rhymes on this one.

Even a broken watch tells time twice a day - said watch will be throwing it 50 times Saturday methinks.

No, last Saturday was fun but the prior 7 performances still loom. Too much ugly to forget.

Obviously winning the game is paramount but its also vital that Iowa at least shows the same type of offensive game plan. But than again even if they attempt to go downfield can Iowa's WRs get enough separation for JR to feel comfortable throwing it to them? Will Iowa find a way to utilize Wadley & Parker's speed? Or does AW go back to the bench and Parker gets a touch here & there?

Im with Deanvogs. I think its time for kirk to hang it up but I told you guys he was a good coach. His time is over but he has one more run in him. Id like to see Brian as the OC awhile. However Im not saying that will go well but I dont think it will go bad. Im sure the Hawks with win or lose this weekend.

But this is a stupid subject because of the buyout.

Forget getting beat by Iowa State, I just checked and none of none of the current top 4 teams have beaten the 3-5 Northwestern team this year. I think we should build a statue commemorating this wonderful game and the National Championship that is sure to come.

short attention spans rule the day. It was one game...against a team on the slide. Check back in early December.

Who is the blue hell is saying Iowa will make the playoff?

We need to see more than one game of this offense clicking on all cylinders. The Iowa team we saw Saturday is the team all of us have been waiting to see. I think Saturday will offer a lot of insight as to if the Northwestern game was a one-hit wonder or possibly this team will start clicking and looking like it knows what it is doing. We have the players to succeed ... Win at Minnesota ... get that confidence going into this final stretch and who knows!? ... I don't want to let my excitment get too out of control because honestly, I can't tell if we beat a good NW team or a bad one. They are a hard team to read as well ... And once we got the momentum going Saturday the game just got out of hand for NW ... :)

If we regress against the Goofers ... well ...

Need more Wadley,Powell and Parker(cowbell) These players have been a revelation and reminder of how KF continues to find diamonds in the rough. I have no idea how those kids flew so under the radar. Other than their size.

Lest we must remember, a big part of being an Iowa Football fan is being able to forget. Never forget that. What were we talking about anyway?

So, just so I understand clearly.....Iowa fans should continue to be negative because of the earlier games?

Is that the best way to enjoy Iowa football? To minimize the wins, and focus on the losses last month or two months ago?

That is your prerogative....but I prefer to enjoy the win over NW and the despised Fitz.
Now, I look forward, not backward. Again, your choice....either wallow in past defeats or anticipate future victories. ...

I mean, Iowa did lose by 7 points on the road at Md. and lost by 3 pts at the buzzer vs ISU, so these routs , these dismantlings of the Iowa program was so disasterous that the program maybe should be shut down....just in case they actually lose a game by more than 7.

I think it's okay to enjoy the moment, and even to think what could happen the rest of the year. The playoff talk or would we make the playoffs at 13-0 talk is just silly IMO. I was at the game, and it was a blast. I hope that's more of what we will see in the future, but I'm certainly not convinced. At this point, as Iowa fans, we have to take it game by game. I expect this next one to be closer than it should, and I fully admit if we throw 50 short passes and lose the game, I will overreact like I do after every other brutal performance and call for drastic change. If we win, I will be happy, but there will be no talk of playoffs no matter how good we look.

Nobody is seriously saying Iowa has a shot at the playoffs....why does it offend so much?

As for this game being closer than it should be...Iowa is like a 1.5 pt favorite at this point...so is a 21-20 win unacceptable? I take issue with fans who think Iowa should roll into Minny and swamp them...they have a week to get ready for Iowa, and are also 6-2 (3-1), just like Iowa.

It is this type of attitude( not speaking to you but in general) that strays away from the fun 80's and early 90's...even with success, Iowa fans still enjoyed and cherished every Big Ten win....and did not complain about margin of wins. The quote from Hayden in the Matt Sherman article spoke volumes....he said of the criticism of Matt Sherman '' Iowa does not want to gain the reputation for complaining and whining'' something to that effect....Hayden would not recognize some of the fan base now, because whining and complaining is what they seem to live for.

How quickly we forget? I don't think the majority have forget NC! This is a very average football team and the thought of playing in the BTCCG left me after we lost to ISU. Those talking BCS Playoffs are living on fantasy island, seriously NC that isn't if worth the conversation.

So in 2002 - did you not think we should have been Big Ten Champs because we lost to ISU. Obviously this team is not that team, but we can improve from week to week and play better at the end of the year. Will we win out, probably not, but it is possible - and up until the game last week we could not have said that. So let's enjoy the possbility that we can still have a very special year and winning these next 4 is more than just a pipe dream. We can get to the BTCCG - we control our own destiny in that regard.

NC, I have stated from the outset that my expectation is for KF to field a team this season that makes it to the B1G Championship Game. I felt that with all of the returning starters on offense, Iowa should field a high octane offense and a defense in the top half. I further felt that with the easy schedule, Iowa shouldn't lose more than 1 game, if that; but that I would never predict or expect an undefeated season. So, essentially, I predicted 11-1 (or better) and the B1G Championship Game. I also stated that if Iowa did have 2 losses, they better make the B1G Championship Game, or it would be a disappointing season. I feel okay putting that kind of expectation on a coach in his 16th season at the same school, with as many starters returning (on both sides) and with the leagues easiest schedule. If we can't expect a championship team from KF this season, when can we? Next season? How about in 2010? It is time for KF to match the hype.

Well, we already have the two losses and the offense has been disappointing. However, we are still in a position to win out and make the B1G championship game. So, no, I haven't forgotten, but KF still can meet these expectations, so, I'm taking a wait and see. But, it is still very much in reach and I expect 4 straight wins.

The way I look at it is the best game to judge how you will play the rest of the year is always the last game you played. We demolished a team that we rarely even find a way to beat. Who knows if it will carry over or not, but that one game is definitely enough to make me feel a lot better about how the rest of the season will play out.

I haven't forgotten the losses but 16 years is enough evidence for me to know that how we play against a crappy team in September has little to no relevance on how we will play against good teams in November.

So with that logic its ok to go 1-11 as long as the last game is a win.
