How many wins to make the NCAA tournament?

It's going to be a longshot, but not out of the question.

We still have 6 games remaining with bottom feeders (PSU, Nebraska and Northwestern). I think we need to go at least 5-1 if not 6-0 in these games. 5 wins here would give us 16 total.

We would then probably have to win 3 of the remaining 5 against (Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana*2 and Wisconsin) which would be very difficult, but we do fortunately have Minnesota, Wisconsin and 1 game against Indiana at Carver.

That would put us at 19-12 going into the Big Ten tournament where we would probably need 1 win. Michigan St. claimed a 10 seed last year with a 19-14 record. Michigan was an 8 with a 20-13 record. My guess is that we end up in the 15-16 win range and an NIT bid, but I hope I'm wrong.

22 total wins probably is good for an NCAA seed.
19 + wins needed for NIT berth (looking at last year BCS schools needed this win total)

Anything under these two totals means no postseason play unless Iowa plays in the CBI.

a 11-7 league record trumps what they did in OOC play as a 11-7 conference record put us at least 5th, and right now the way people are expecting 8 teams possibly making the dance, a 5th place team is not going to be left out, if Iowa finishes 9-9 they will more than likely ties with 3-4 other team then the OOC record will hurt.
but to get to 11-7 that would mean a finish of a 8-3 record and that is a big # when the selection committee makes their decision has how a team finishes plays apart, when they look at the lower seeds, i expect a 13-14 seed if we make it

Don't they use the B1G record to determine the seed? 11-7 would be a 4 seed last year, and 5th the year before.

completely read that wrong, you were taking seeds in the NCAA Tourny not Big 10 tourney.

22 wins? So you think if we go 13-5 in the best league in the nation, but lose in the first round of the B10 tournament, we would get left out?

its out of the question.

3 or 4, depending on our seed for the BTT
