How many touches does Garmon get?

I don't think he gets that many unless Mark is still hampered by his leg bruise. I suspect he'll be good to go and as long as he's getting 1st downs, Kirk will keep pounding Weisman. I'll say Garmon gets 6 carries.

I'll believe Canzeri plays when he actually breaks the huddle and the ball is snapped with him on the field, until then he's red-shirting.

Garmon will get maybe 2. I'm not convinced, at all, that Weisman won't be starting come Saturday night. Those depth charts are put together on Sunday and since there was no high ankle sprain and no break, I fully expect Mark to go against PSU.

Agreed. Weisman at 75% is better than Garmon.

Almost all of them... if Weisman is still out.

Hopefully 5-6 in the 4th Qtr with Iowa well ahead and the game out of reach. If he has a large number of carries Iowa is in trouble. He doesn't look anything like a running back( or at least he needs time to develop, maybe thats why other schools were recruiting as a DB.

The bad news is Garmon has looked tentative in his carries so far.

The good news is Garmon has looked tentative in his carries so far, and should be more productive as he gains confidence.

I was referring more to the fact that we seem to go with one back pretty much exclusively the whole game. I wish we'd spread the carries out a little more so we have more than one back at a time feeling what it like to get meaningful playing time.

I think if Mark can't go we will see more Canzeri then Garmon as Canzeri has the experience factor and will be less tentative.

not sure MW will go. If not-I think Garmon gets a ton of carries-almost all of them. I don't think they want to use Canzeri, either. Here's to a break-out game against his home-state schl.

Garmon was just getting a case of happy feet Saturday. He needs to trust the Oline and Tobin needs to step up because Mauti will be gunning for whoever is toting the rock. Mauti is quick laterally and will plug the gap if Tobin isn't playing his best game of the year. If Tobin can engage him for three or four steps then Garmon's quickness might get him to the secondary.

Play action is going to important because because if the safeties don't drop into coverage they will close on Garmon quickly. If that is the case Garmon isn't going to get as many carries as KF probably has in mind. I just don't think he can hold up to the kind of pounding he is going to be taking.

This is a serious concern if JVB can't get some kind of passing game going. He hasn't thrown much to the TEs in the middle of the field this year but will have to or we will be taking the red shirt off of Canzeri before we know it.

Of course if Weisman can play Saturday ....

I do not think Garmon looked bad as much as the plays they had him running were not right. He was fresh and has a bit more speed then MW yet they kept trying lazy power runs to the short side of the field. I would think with a fresh back and a tired D you might let him try the long side and use those legs to make the corner. It baffles me how this staff puts everything down on paper and will never try an alternate way of doing something. Maybe the long side of the field was more damp than the short side and I am just wacko for my way of thinking :)

8-10 touches a game would be nice. He would be a nice change of pace back and has explosive ability. Sweeps, tosses, draws, counters and screens would be the kind of touches he needs to be effective at this point.
