How many times you been ko'ed

All year they have been talking about it, you can not turn on a game without them bringing it up. That hit Nebby put on Wisky was brutal, but I did not think it was a bad hit. They are calling any hit that is questionable, and it takes a little something away from the game.

I've never been knocked out in a fight, and if I had been, I would probably just be quiet about it unless there was an absolutely awesome story connected to it. If I had been knocked out three times fighting, I would definately not be bragging about it.

Now concussions and a broken nose, that's a different story. I've had a few of those.

I see some did not read my first post.
#1 I have some family that works for a company that is researching helmet padding.
#2 I feel as thou calling any questionable hit takes away from the game.
#3 Boxing has shown it is the repeated blows that are the worst, so this got me to thinking. I know of a doc the goes to HS games, unpaid. Back when I was in HS, if you could walk and talk, the coach said you were good to go. All HS games should atleast have a doc on the sidelines. How you go about finding one who has no horse in the race is tough.

I passed out at my bachelor party after an undetermined number of shots. Liquid, not gun, or fist.

I still remember one hit I took in football to this day. That play on an interception where the direction of the play changes and you turn to chase the ball and someone is waiting for you. Yep, dude took me out. I was layed out perfectly, feet in the air. Not knocked out. Layed on the ground for a second, oddly felt very relaxed. Kind of nice. Good ol' Waukon. Kid that layed me out wasn't actually any good he just had a good opportunity

Once. It was a blind side helmet to helmet I was flat footed and defenseless. I was unconcious for five minutes on the field, woke up vomiting. I was determined to be okay but the following day I decided that I was not and took myself to the ER where I was roundly ignored even after being admitted despite having an 8 ball for a pupil. Long story short I insisted on a CT scan that the Dr did not want to do and he was quite a dick about it but he did finally agree. As it turned out my brain was bleeding and I had to be medivacted to Iowa City.

Lipped off to my older brother who was back from the service. I went from the middle of the road to the ditch in a heart-beat, and didn't know sh!t for several minutes!

First time I was knocked out was climbing a tree and one of the branches went out horizontally....climbed out over it and slipped and fell and there was a fence post below me and smacked the back of my head on it and came to on the living room couch.

Second time was in high school football.....but it wasn't from a hit, it was from a lineman that wanted to test the sleeper hold out. I volunteered. Weirdest experience ever. I came to and it took me a minute to realize where I was because when I woke up I expected to be in bed.

It has been talked about a ton (I am tired of it, man up or puss out). We all see it and some have been there. Just curious how many of you have been k'ed the f out?
Me, 3 times. First, even thou I was all the way out, was the least. Second (when I gave up my back) I was up and ready for more, before I even remember. Third I seperated my shoulder and again, I was wondering around for a good 4 min or so before I even knew where I was.
My old doc had a low hanging shoulder as well and he knew what ball was all about. Just curious who else has given at the alter? Anybody else ever had a stinger?

I was talking to some family that happens to be in the research of NFL helmet padding, so that is kind of what brought this all up.

Have a friend that is working with a "concussion" expert at UNC as part of our Graduate work. Looking at concussions and post concussion syndrome. Considering how concussions have really come to the fore-front, I hope that this research finds some answers before our boys are old enough to get into football helmets.

When I was a kid, my friends and I would knock ourselves out willingly. (Still hands down the stupidest thing I ever did) We didn't hit each other though, we'd take deep breaths till we were light headed then someone would bear hug you till you passed out. One time I fell and whacked my head pretty good and woke up thinking it had been hours, but it was only a few seconds. Just typing this out still has me shaking my head because we seriously couldn't of been any dumber. Live and learn I guess.

Well, why didn't you just say so???

My wife is also an ATC that works with a local high school. She performs testing on the sidelines/bench for anyone that is showing symptoms of a concussions. Her school has implemented IMPACT testing, which each athlete takes the test to establish their "baseline". If they have a concussion or concussion symptoms, they are required to retake the IMPACT test and can not be returned to action until their testing results are similar to their baseline.

During varsity/sophomore football games, she does have a Doctor that volunteers his time to be down there. Although, when it comes to concussions, he lets my wife make the call on who needs to sit out. They error on the side of caution though. You show symptoms, then you are out.

With the lineman?

I wrecked a Moped when I was 13... Was not knocked out, but my pride has never recovered.
