How many points did these calls cost the Hawks?

Remember the shot clock violation in the 1st half. 2 pts
No call on Marble 3 point attempt where he was body checked. 3 pts.
Call on McCabe for blocking when Nix ran over him. 3 pts
Call on White when it was clearly a clean block. 2 pts.

Thats 10 pts the refs determined with their poor calls.

Iowa gave up 19+ points off turnovers...that is something that they have control over no matter how the refs call the game.

Iowa got their fair share of calls too. It's easier to remember these when your team loses.

Agreed, but at the same time let's not forget that its one more distraction in the back of the players minds when they're giving up the run. Hard enough to dedicate all your mental and physical energy when your trying to figure out how to stop a run, doesn't help when there's one more thing distracting you.

Name one. I also forgot the loose ball foul on McCabe where nobody had control of the ball.

Two loose ball fouls, one against woody, one against McCabe, woody hacks nix twice no call results in tech and two points Iowa, Gessel fouled on floor official rules going up results in three point play... Just off the top of my head.

if they were distracted by officials calls then they weren't mentally tough enough to win.

Michigan State is a very physical team. The fact that they only had 5 team fouls with under a minute left was a joke. Meanwhile Iowa has several big calls go against them during that horrible stretch. At the end of the day, we lost because we have these long stretches with no offense, BUT, the refs helped pound the final nail into our NCAA tournament coffin.

When the matchups on the floor favor one team like they did tonight they don't rack up fouls...bad lineups and no ability to create cost Iowa.

Agreed, but I think you may also be missing out on how important this game was to them and the ramifications they knew they were playing for. Sports are a mental game and when you blow the lead that we did and let MSU back in the game, and then continuously find yourself on the end of questionable calls (whether the right call or not) it takes its toll on you mentally. IMO at the end of that game, they ran out of gas mentally and that had a bigger impact then the physical side of things. I don't think anyones blaming the outcome on the refs, but at the same time you can't tell me that officiating didn't play as much of a factor as MSU did in causing those mental mistakes leading to the turnovers.

You can't tell me that the team was 100% focused on MSU when Fran is having his temper tantrum and banging on the scorer's table. The fact is it took it's toll on them mentally which played a major role in the outcome of the game. They keep their focus and eliminate one or two of those TO's in the closing minutes and its a different ball game. Unfortunately for all of us we have no control of it and can only hang our heads after another late game meltdown.

Officials get caught up in the moment, too, even though they're not suppose to. I imagine that crew will not grade out very well for tonight's game.

Well, wasn't one of the turnovers the one where Marble got ran over by Nix? That one at least in on the refs.

Wasn't another one when Marble dribbled out of bounds and then Iowa gave up a three and the lead on the subsequent possession...that one that was on the refs was the game changer not the other 18...ffs

And that is the point where someone needs to step up and make a play no matter what...sound familiar?
