How Many More Wins?

This team will probably win a game or two more that they aren't expected to win and will probably lose against once or twice against the teams that they are expected to beat (PSU and Nebraska). I'll say from here on out Iowa wins at least two of the four games with PSU/Nebraska and wins two additional games which makes it a 5 - 13 conference record and 13 - 18 overall heading into the conference tournament.

I have no idea but I know it is going to be fun to watch. These guys know they can play with anyone now.

Really trying to judge how good this Iowa team is.

What was Wisconsin's best win to this point? Are they for real?

I know Purdue is down this year, but I thought this was supposed to be a great Wisconsin team.

Lots of truth to the point that most teams won't go 3-30 from beyond the arc.

I think Purdue is better than Wisconsin.

Two more wins this month Minnesota/Nebraska
Five wins in February
One in March

If Iowa wins eight more games that would be 17, two more than my original prediction...as I said originally, anything around .500 would be a great year for me.

Yeah, the BIG is really really down this year in general. Wisconsin only had two teams break 60 on them all year and they were both losses to UNC(60 points) and Marquette(61 points). The Hawks hung 72 on them at home where they rarely lose. Go celebrate that 2 point win to a 1-11 team on your board. Bye.

Their best win appears to be their 62-51 win over UNLV...they lost at UNC in the ACC-Big10 Challenge in Chapel Hill 60-57 and lost to Marquette 61-54 in Madison as well...they did roll up Mississippi Valley State 79-45 though...sorry, I couldn't help myself...:p

Wisconsin is still Number 1 in the Pomeroy ratings. They have a great team.

You can't discount this win, regardless of the number of wins the rest of the way. Wisconsin had a hard time defending Fran's up-tempo offense, which is the whole point of McCaffrey's system. It is similar to a spread offense in football - it allows you to compete without the "absolute best" players.

After the last two games I am much more optimistic about Iowa conference record.

If you think back to the start the conference season last year Iowa was terrible and then about 2/3 of the way through something clicked and they started to become competitive.

I was worried we were going to see the noncompetitive version of the hawks again this year in conference but they have come out just about where they left off at the end of last year.

I think you can throw out the preseason this year where the team was clearly not playing to its potential. What we've seen the last 5 games is what your going to get more or less with the potential to get even better if Cartwright is going to play like he did last game.

I think 9-9 is doable.

I originally said 15 and I am sticking with that. I think we get 6 more wins. I think we beat PSU and Nebby. I will also say we will upset at least 2 teams at home!

I subscribe to Ken Pomeroy's service (I highly recommend it; check out KenPom.com). They go into great detail in analyzing every team. Here is what they predict for Iowa (prior to BIG tournament):

14-17, with 6-12 conference record. That would be a 3 win improvement over last year, which would be very good.

I'm hoping we get more than 14 wins.

I guess I probably have some homerism in me, but I am saying 16 wins and an NIT trip. I really think we can beat the Nebraska, PSU's of the world and get a win or two over Northwestern and Minny as well.
