They used to do that back in the day at a lot of venues where tickets didn't sell out. They'd roll in wearing the home team's gear, then pull their shirts off to reveal that they were Illinois fans right before the teams came out. I had to sit amongst that group, the Orange Krush, back in 2004 at Carver. Horrible. The worst was Alford had complained to the Big Ten about them taunting Pierce and so despite me pleading with the leaders of the group, they would not start chants against Pierce. They were told that the school would revoke their tickets and affiliation with the school if they heckled Pierce at all. God, Alford was such a colossal piece of shit.

When Jay Burson played at Carver the old "Hawkeye Hundred" (that they naturally stuck up high in section KK or something like that) would taunt him with the then current SNL "Hans and Franz" skit.

Burson looked like your paper boy. But he could shoot, and he wasn't afraid to drive-until Ed Horton ended his career by chipping a vertebrae in Jay's neck (another game I attended).

What were you, a masochist?

For the record, I went to one game in the Lickliter era, and we best Northwestern. We made three two point baskets that day. The rest of the scoring, and there wasn't a lot, was on free throws and three point fgs. Want to say we won something like 54-50.

Damn we scored more than 50 and we won, good for you. I never seen Iowa score more than 50 or Win in any of the games under Lick I attended. That Illinois game was close though we got to 49

I remember the first game of the Fran era against one of the South Dakota schools. We lost by about ten, 88-78 or something like that, but I remember feeling like "what a breath of fresh air". We scored around forty points in both halves! After what we had just witnessed it was like looking at Stevie Nicks after three years of looking at Janet Reno.

Last six weeks of the Lickliter tenure we struggled to be that. Look back at some of the scores late in that season.

Ever hear the extended versions of "Rhiannon"? Stevie whips herself into such a frenzy that she challenges Janis Joplin at her own game. It'll give you goose bumps if you track it down.
