How funny is it..

It would be more awesome if this were the eighties and that still meant something.
^^ THIS ^^
January bowl games meant something when there were 4 bowl games on January 1 (Rose, Sugar, Cotton, Orange).

Only idiots think that playing in a January bowl game is something special these days.

The only bowl games that matter are the 4 play off spots. The new system has taken the integrity out of the bowl season. So unless your 1 of the top 4 teams, your bowl game doesn't mean S***.

It's much better for recruiting to have high schoolers see us playing in the New Year as opposed to right after Christmas.

why don't we go play in the Birmingham, Cactus or Go Daddy bowls since they are in January according to your logic?

We were selected for the TaxSlayer bowl. As per rules, teams are only able to play in one bowl game. If we ALSO played in the Birmingham, Cactus, or Go Daddy bowls it would be very illegal since we were already selected for the TaxSlayer.

For some reason, I'm not laughing.

Actually, I would have thought it VERY funny, IF
Iowa had wisely decided to hand the ball off to Weisman at end of First half vs Nebraska, instead of
throwing a 2nd pass to #22, who promptly fumbled, giving the Cornholers a TD and ultimately
squandering the game to them.

It's still nice that we play a JANUARY bowl and they don't, true that.

Yeah they'll all be planted in front of their TVs on a friday afternoon at 2pm to watch us play a .500 team after watching the top 4 go at it the evening before. I would much rather be playing in the Holiday Bowl tonight. Much better game, much better exposure.

I'll further rain on the parade by stating that no minor bowl should be played after the "old BCS" bowls and especially after the playoff games. The following meaningless games need to be played before...either move the others ahead or these back....nobody watches them anyway.

Actually, it's much better for recruiting if current high school players don't watch us play at all. We'd be better off with Brian just showing up in their living rooms with some academic pamphlets or something.

Do you honestly think that just started this year with the playoff? Unless you were one of the top bowls before this, it didn't mean a lot as far as the national championship goes... it didn't just start this year. The only thing this playoff does is actually take the "what-if" out of the equation in the minds of the NCAA.
