How did we win this game?

Kirk did not jump up and down like a 6 year old on pixie sticks yet we still won. How is it possible?:confused::rolleyes:

But Matt Roth did get the team fired between the first two quarters and you really saw a more energized team afterwards. Funny how that worked out.

People who don't think motivation and getting fired up are necessary for a team amaze me. It might not need to come from Kirk, but that fire better come from somewhere. That's why players like Roth, King and Angerer were so important for Iowa football. They were captains who were able to fire up their teammates on a consensus basis and get the team ready to play. When we don't have those kinds of players, there's just a huge hole in our team. And 7 win seasons usually are a result.

Fire comes from within, imo. If you're a D1 fb player and you need some rah rah speech to get up for the game, there is something wrong.

Klink fired guys up, prole. Klink had 10x the heart of anyone else who ever wore the black and old gold, but he lacked the supporting cast and had to carry the D himself.

If watching a walk-on Air Force cadet throw the team on his back doesn't get teh phat katz fired up, then nothing will.
