How did Nebraska stop our run game?

Wisconsin will do the same thing as Nebraska. Iowa cannot beat Wisconsin with our current dreadful QB. Petras has been feeling mostly phantom pressure in the pocket; against Wisconsin that pressure will be real in the form of a delayed blitzing linebacker and I’d bet good money Petras will commit at least 1 interception and 1 fumble.
Any time you bring Wisconsin into the conversation the 3-4 is the elephant in the room.

Iowa is historically terrible against it.

If I were an opposing team’s DC I’d entertain the prospect of doing it just for the Iowa game.

Hawkeyes are that bad at playing against it.

At PSU Sarg got more carries. I remember a scene between plays when Tyler showed exasperation that he was coming out

Yes, I saw the camera catch that but I dont think he was upset at the coaches but more of a 'damn I am just getting warmed up' kind of thing

He is averaging right about 19 carries a game so he is getting his share and now has showed he can carry the bulk of it.

You are correct and ISU gives the hawk run game troubles much of the time. Iowa's line is schooled and drilled in that zone blocking technique of making their first block/reach block, combo block then releasing to make a second block many times on a Lbkr. That 3-4 where they dont know where the lbkrs are going to be really messes them up as you say. If lbkrs are shooting gaps the hawks sometimes dont hardly touch them.

Not so much about the 3-4 but there are some neat youtube videos of teams like the rams and their zone blocking with good explanations.

Wow, I didn't realize Goodson carried it that much.
Yeah, ditto. You used to see guys getting 25, 30, or more carries/gm on a routine basis, but things have shifted dramatically towards what we used to call a "platoon" scheme. The wear and tear on a D1 RB is immense.

Packers also run a ton of it with very good success.
