I opened this thread wondering what position on the field we were talking about. Didn't see that it was in the basketball forum. It is really hard to think about basketball this week. ;)

What articles are these? Jok at PG would be a disaster
I have read them on all the sites that cover Hawkeye Sports(9 sites that I know of) all spring and summer long. I would have no idea at this point which site had which article, but you can trust me that I read it.

I said 11 at least through the non-conference schedule. Fran is going to want to known what he has to work with. It should be interesting and fun watching this group grow and improve. Jok will be iffy and may be the twelfth man in (just checking to see if your awake). At some point in the conference part of the schedule I would expect to see the rotation solidify and drop down to around nine.

I keep reading articles where Williams, Jok, Dailey and Moss are all mentioned having time at the PG spot. I remember reading an article where Peter Jok said ,after getting critiqued by the NBA powers that be, he was told to get some minutes at PG and develope that part of his game.

Of those four, Dailey seems like the more natural at PG. That isn't necessarily a compliment. Just an observation from the little I have seen from all, but Jok.
Maishe seems to have the skills, and is a pass first type of guy. If he puts in the hours, and has the focus, he will be a good player for the Hawks....
But ready to contribute this year...? I'm not so sure on that. Maybe in the latter half of the season, with good consistent minutes rotated in at the PG. A few minutes here and there, every game will add up. It does not take too much game time to have film to study and learn from...

More experience handling the ball can only be good for Jok's future. But that is beyond Iowa. Not sure how helpful that will be for our team.... Jok did play point forward numerous times for Valley. So, it isn't entirely new to him. He would draw out the defense, that is for certain.

I'll stand by my thoughts that Jok at PG would be a really bad idea

I don't think Jok would ever be the full on point. But rather the one bringing the ball up the court. Seeing what's available and then disbursing or taking a shot with the ball... Somebody else will be running sets after that point. He won't be running the show. He might start it tho.

So would Royce White make a good PG? I'm just curious as he ran the "PG" for ISU a lot.

Just because Jok brings the ball up the court doesn't mean he is some traditional PG. It isn't like the opponent is going to put their 6'0 PG on him to defend him, or that he will have to defend the opponents PG.

You are making way too much of having a few non PG handle that duty every now and again.

That's an odd comparison but I will stand by my thoughts that Jok even bringing up the ball would be a bad idea. That does not play into his strengths and we have better options to play PG

Some people are concerned that our point guards won't be able to handle the full court pressure of the opposing point guard. If that is an issue, Jok is an option to bring it up. I think that is the situation people are talking about.

You can put me in this category as well. I don't know if Jok is the answer but I guess we probably don't have many other options

I don't think Jok is the answer, but he should be a solid player for Iowa. There are going to be guys emerge on the team. Offensively, I think Iowa has the potential to be very good, but they won't be if they rely on Jok as being the answer.

I think Jok can be the answer for this team and put up 20ppg. We just need adequate play from our PG and have him limit TO's and feed Jok the ball. CW and Bohannon aren't going to be big time scorers this year so they just need to give it to the guys that can put it in the hoop
