If Melsahn were to transfer to another school? I for one would be concerned. I think being Mel was Fran's first recruit and given Mel's potential on the court, it would be really ****** if he left and the program got lickliter syndrom again.

Easy there shooter. Step back away from the ledge. Jesus!

About a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10, when you're recruiting over guys and they see the writing on the wall, it's not a real big deal.

why not bring all of his friends from new york and set up basketball court outside where they can play street basketball
that could make him happy here , what he needs is hardcore street basketball. i think the gym is too nice and too sterile for him , he needs dirty basketball.

Bigger than the Dan McGwire transfer.

The only place he could transfer is Iceland, because that is where he would need to go to continue using Jarryd Cole to make him look good.

Now we know who the pipe got passed to.

I think the meltdown in the Lick era was when we lost Smith, Kelly, Freeman etc. who we saw a key pieces to build on. I think Mel is a good talent, but he needs to step it up. Right now he's not the building block the others were when they went.

If he were to go I would not be nearly as upset as if we were to lose White or Marble for example. Frankly I'm not sure Mel will see a lot of minutes next year. With Meyer and Woody coming in to bolster the 5 spot and the BIG O and Archie continuing to learn the game minutes in the post won't be as easy to come by. Mel is a 4 but White would have the majority of the minutes there if I was the coach based on this years play. McCabe, Marble, Gessel, May,the SHOOTER, and the other two new guards will compete for minutes at 1,2,3 and IMO keep White spending more time at the four.

Now don't get this wrong. I think Mel can be a real cog in a good machine. He's got the talent to be a key piece. I think he's just got to get his focus on being that piece instead of being the guy. I don't want to see him go, but if he were to leave I would not go into meltdown mode.

Having a guy leave because he is no longer an integral part, and having the leading scorer/top player leave are two different things.

I hope Mel gets his $#it together and starts playing (10 and 5 out of him is not too much to ask), but if he doesn't and xfrs because of it then, oh well.

Archie is done this year, and there is a difference of opinion on whether White will be a 3 or a 4, it is mainly on here that he will be a 4, but the popular opinion is he will be a 3 on the other sites , and a lot of people on those sites or announcer don't see him as being slow or unathletic.

This will go one of two ways for Basabe and I think I know which. I hope I'm wrong. Meltdown? Hardly.
