Hope we use the short passing game tomorrow

The most frustrating part of the Arizona loss to me was not adapting to the constant blitzing and pressure by switching to a quick passing game that used some screens and hot read option short passes that could have been used to burn the 8 man fronts and relentless blitzing.
I know that Michigan uses a 3-3-5 defense, but I think they will try to bring pressure and take away the running game, and I hope that KOK and the staff use some quick hit passes to our playmakers (DJK specifically) to combat the pressure. There is no reason why Iowa's offense can't score 30 + points against the Michigan D, but I think that 3rd down conversions and avoiding turnovers will be the key.As long as the Hawks avoid self inflicted mistakes on offense and special teams, I think the defense will provide the 3-4 key stops needed to allow Iowa to get a key road victory

Iowa runs the ball well, that's why they don't use the short passing game. Get the ball down field off of play action to the post or a deep out or crossing pattern. Most of it is based on a pass between 10 and 20 yards. It's been that way for years, I don't expect that to change too much for tomorrow.

But we did not run the ball well against Arizona. I believe NickHawk's point was that we didn't adapt to that fact and also the blitzes with a shorter passing game.

I agree with him. In my opinion, KOK does not adapt well in-game. If we fall behind due to turnovers/bad special teams play/ poor offensive execution and this turns into a track meet (because Rich Rod will still go full throttle regardless) then we could be in trouble.

You'll see Iowa throw over the top, deep, ALOT today. Look for the double slant with McNutt and DJK after the play action. It'll be there all day.
