HOOPS!!

Yeah I don't know what to expect from him. I'd say from hearing Fran talk the kid is going to start day 1 and be looked at as a key contributor. Beyond that heck if I know. His teammate in HS was like one of the best overall kids and pretty much a for sure one and done player. Is Cook going to be one? Like I said I hope not I'd love to see the kid average a double double for 3 yrs or more. That'd be awesome. We'll just have to see.
Woody started from day 1 too. I don't expect Cook to go pro after 1 year even with a 15/8 season. He's got to prove he's the whole package at his height and position. That's not only dominant under the hoop as a post player and rebounder, but shooting 'consistently' from the outside, showing a strong game off the dribble, and being a strong defensive player as well. If he could that in 1 year, it would be a 'wow' coaching job that Fran could use to recruit with the rest of his career.

I think Ricky Davis and Ray (forgetting his last name now) were the last 2 real impact players with some size and talent. I love Roy Marble but Roy had very limited shooting ability from beyond 12 feet.

Yes. In today's day and age, guys Tyler's size have to be able to really shoot the ball, and most likely handle and pass it well to stick in the NBA. Right now Tyler's game is almost entirely predicated on athleticism, in the NBA his athleticism is a dime a dozen.

Well I am looking forward to seeing what Cook can do and I hope he meets all the expectations. If he does that could significantly change the outlook for this upcoming season. I am not saying things look bad right now but if Cook really becomes a major impact player then he and Joc together with a little help from another player or two, could make things in the conference very interesting.

15/8 might be the best season by a freshman big man in the Big 10 in modern history.

Yeah I thought the same thing. If he does that he'll be in the NBA the next yr. That'd be incredible. What were Chris Webbers stats? That's pretty much the ball park your talking about stats wise I think.

It's extremely unlikely Cook leaves after this season. Like less than a one percent chance. Let's seriously pump the brakes here. I am really excited to see what he can do, but he wasn't a Ben Simmons type high school recruit. One and done players are usually the elite of the elite high school talents.

If Cook is really a basketball 6 foot 9 then I think he might end up leaving if he has a good year. If he is around 6 foot 7 the likelihood diminishes.

I believe Cook is a legit 6'9, we've always been pretty accurate in our roster heights

It seems that Iowa lists heights what they are with shoes on, so maybe you can substract half an inch?

I think all schools do that. I remember Marble was 6'5.5 at the combine barefoot, 6'6.5 in shoes and we listed him at 6'6. Same scenario with Uthoff I believe

Wasn't Williams originally listed at 6'6" then moved to 6'5" later? I wonder if there was a type-o.
