Hoops Schedule: Iowa Gets GREAT Big 10 Draw

I don't mean conspiring, I just mean that they would naturally have more interest in working with each other than Hub. Don't really know why everyone thinks my position is so outlandish. Do you think he would rather be on a team with at least one other Hawkeye? Do you think Fran might prefer that? Do you think that he is going to be all that interested in bonding with a bunch of guys who will be playing at a different school?

Seriously, it isn't going to ruin his Hawkeye career. That is not what I am saying. I am saying this league should be an opportunity for Hawk players to build relationships on and off the court. Hard to do that when all your future teammates are on another bench.

You do realize these guys just basically show up and play together for one hour a week, right? They aren't rooming together, they aren't going on long bus rides together. He's got all summer to practice and play with his teammates, one hour a week of playing sloppy semi-organized no defense basketball is going to have zero impact on how he bonds with his teammates.

After wading through all the PTL "stuff" and looking at the OP subject here, there is a lot of hope for Iowa basketball come BIG conference play.
The fact that Iowa doesn't have to play 4 teams that have routinely beat them up for the past few seasons and even when Iowa has been good. This is a very positive sign, one thing that looks good for Iowa is beating NW twice and maybe even Purdue twice. Purdue's recruiting classes since the Moore/Johnson/Hummel class have dropped off significantly and it is no guarantee that Hummel will be anywhere near his old self.
Of the four games Iowa plays the opponent only once, it isn't too much to ask for two wins out of that and not just one. PSU will go back to its old self and Nebraska should be two wins.
Indiana will be better, but Iowa will have depth and should be in much better shape heading into the season than the Hoosiers and for whatever reason Crean can't beat Iowa when IU has had better teams. Unless Zeller is one of the top 8 players in the BIG, give Iowa two wins.
This could shape up to being a 12 win team in the BIG with their favorable schedule, there is a lot to be determined, but with that announcement of not having to play MSU/OSU/Illinois/Michigan once it looks a whole lot better. Iowa will be extremely tough inside Carver and we may see home court really be an advantage again. Time will tell, maybe I am putting too much stock in the fact that Iowa will have a real bench and some quality players coming off of it.

My only expectations and hopes from the PTL are: (1) the guys get to have fun playing a game they love, (2) they stay in some semblance of basketball shape and, most importantly (3) they don't get injured.

So, crappy summertime pick-up basketball is a lot like boy scout camp?
