Hoops Recruiting: Dynamite comes in small packages

He can shoot the 3, however Fran is waiting to see how his senior year goes to see if he is able to develop the 3-point pump fake before he offers.

DasBoat: OK...perhaps.

However, that was the 'excuse' I heard from Fran acolytes about why he waited/WHIFFED/Missed on
Jeremy Morgan and Wyatt Lohaus. He waited, then got the 99th best guard in North Wisconsin & a Juco
project point guard, who hasn't earned quality PT, yet.

Color me skeptical.

Its comical the amount of people saying Fran missed on Wyatt Lohaus. Based on what exactly? Lohaus is averaging 3.8 points in 13 minutes against the lowly Missouri Valley Conference. Half the teams in the MVC have a worse RPI than last place Rutgers. Meanwhile Fran recruited and redshirted an injured Ellingson who went 4 of 6 from 3 point land and hasn't lost a year of eligibility yet.

Where exactly is the miss?

Exactly.

HawkIstate keeps saying we missed on Morgan, so that means he thinks Morgan >> Jok. LOLOLOLOLOL. Jok is now shooting over 41% from 3 in conference games and is averaging 9 PPG, and Iowa has played the #13 toughest conference schedule. Morgan is shooting 34% from 3 and 6.7 PPG in a crappy conference with the #215 toughest conference schedule. The guy plays against glorified HS players night in and night out. Same with Lohaus. Ellingson would be lighting up that league for sure.

Wow, the KoolAid is still flowing in here, after the WASTED time and effort on this Dickerson flop.
Wyatt Lohaus won 3 State championships and was Mr Basketball for Iowa. Good grief........he is playing for the #10 ranked team in the country and UNI is LOADED with guards.

Instead, all Iowa has now is the 90tn best guard in North Wisconsin.

Hey Vogs: I'll bet you a Case of Old Style Light that Lohaus is TWICE the BB player the
N Wisconsin kid is..............and Im a Season ticket holder for the Hawkeyes.

Actually Ellingson was a 3* kid with an offer from Missouri and a ton of UNI level schools (Utah, San Diego, Drake, etc.) as well. Lohaus was unranked, and only had a UNI offer.

I'll take that bet. Lohaus will have to avg. double what Ellingson does to make it fair, so he will have to have 4 x Ellingson stats to actually equate to what Ellingson is doing in the B1G. Playing against that lower level competition night in and night out are gonna inflate Lohaus' stats big time. There is a big difference between playing the #13 ranked conference schedule and playing the #245 ranked schedule.

Plus I'm taking the bet, because your keen eye for talent has been telling us the Fran whiffed on Morgan as well. I'm sure last year you would have lectured me and told me that Morgan is TWICE the BB player that Jok is. Fast forward a year, and Jok has obviously passed Morgan up, and even you couldn't take the position any longer that Iowa missed on him (meaning we should have taken Morgan over Jok). It will be much the same with Lohaus.

Personally I'm glad they Iowa players that are at UNI aren't at Iowa. They are good players, but they will be happier playing at the level they are at.

If Morgan and Lohaus would have come to iowa, they would have ended up at UNI by now anyway.

We would probably be a top ten team if Fran had just landed those guys, so what if they are very average players in a bad MVC, they would have been great in the B10!

Despite the fact that he is redshirting this year, Ellingson has only made 9 fewer 3's than all world guard Wyatt Lohaus.

We signed the starting SG for the #1 HS team in America that just passed Durant on most made 3 pt attempts in a season. But yeah lets go after a Bohannon.

You are a trip duff....errrrr......I mean dude.

Once again, who would you have brought in for this years class for Iowa? Hutton (Wisconsin offer), Fleming (Memphis, Florida offers), Moss (ISU offer), Wagner (Texas Tech, Minnesota), Deleo, Bohannon. You only get to bring in 4, what 4 would you take?

Yeah I'm not sure what all the angst is over not having the likes of Lohaus and Morgan on the team. Put them on Iowa's roster and take away Jok and Ellingson, and Iowa is no better. Arguably worse as Jok is the best player out of all those guys. I believe Fran was interested in Morgan but wanted him to go to prep school for a yar and be in the next class. I understand why Morgan didn't want to do that.

The guy on the UNI team I would be most interested in having is Washpun. Fran did offer him, but not soon enough apparently.

The season UNI is having is great. Fantastic. They have a very nice confluence of upperclassmen talent and a down Valley. Panthers have had 2 games against Top 50 teams this year (Iowa has had 10). If Iowa moves into the Top 50 of the RPI, it would make a 3rd game UNI had against a Top 50 RPI squad. UNI has had 8 games against Top 100 teams. Iowa has had 16. Give credit to UNI, the Iowa game was extremely important to their at-large resume. And they took care of business. But they have 10 conference wins against teams that are worse (in many cases, much worse) than Rutgers. That is astounding.

Only players worth having from UNI that could actually translate to a Power 6 conference are Tuttle and Washpun, every other play is strictly a MidMajor guy.

Yeah, it's always better to get a kid from outside of Iowa.

Signed,

Seth Tuttle, Harrison Barnes, Wyatt Lohaus, McDermott,
Marvin Paige, etc, etc etc

Where did he say or imply "always"?

And who is Marvin Paige. Is he on those State Farm commercials with Cliff Paul and Don Stockton?

Does HawkIstate have season tickets to Iowa so he can watch flaws and compare the players to UNI? We all know UNI is good this year. You don't have to remind us over and over. Why not just move to Cedar Falls and get season tickets in their lovely facility? And while your at it change your name to UNIstate?

Marvin Paige - ******* legend.

Also I love that Wyatt Lohaus is on that list. That's similar to my list below:

Greatest Basketball players Iowa produced in the 90's and early 2000's: Ricky Davis, Kirk Hinrich, Dan Bohall, Nick Collison, Fred Hoiberg, Kyle Korver

HawkIState is in a total fantasy land. Trying to act like Lohaus is anything like that other group of players are. I am all for getting the states best players if they are Power 6 quality players....otherwise I like to see them stay at UNI to develop and help them win once every 5 years or so, ALA Seth Tuttle.

13 minutes and 4 points a game in the lowly lowly lowly MVC...Wyatt Lohaus is on Wooden watch no doubt.
