Honestly, Who Cares?

All of this talk about Eno...get over it honestly. This guy is a great high school athlete and may be a good college player, but this isn't the end of the world. He obviously had not committed to Iowa at the level he suggested and led everyone to believe. When Iowa commits to you and you commit to us, that's it...you know that when you make your commitment. He apparently felt that Iowa was not the place for him. Do you really want someone like that on your team? Instead of focusing on this kid, why can't we focus on the good, loyal and honorable kids that have kept, and will keep, their commitment to OUR team? Lets put our energy into them.

I've posted on this site numerous times so you all know that I am as critical, if not more so (I'd like to see him gone) on KirFer than anybody. But in this instance, I don't think the policy/rule/law is the problem. Look at the loyal young men we had sign last year and will sign this year -- they are proof that this can work.

Lastly, I am getting real tired of Jon and his sanctimonious articles/tweets/podcasts. For someone to criticize fans for being passionate about their team, to call them losers -- the same fans that help to keep this site from completely going into the crapper more than it has over the past two years, is completely out of bounds. I don't care that he has divorced himself from Iowa football and that he is above the fray now. To call out fans for being passionate...on a fan board...are you kidding me? Yes, fans shouldn't be tweeting at recruits (that too is out of bounds), but to call them losers because they are excited/disappointed says more about you than it does them. These folks work their asses off 40 a week and all they want is to see their team put forth an exciting effort on game day. I don't blame them for being upset at the product on the field and looking for the positives in the next recruiting classes. Disappointing HN.com.

My expectation is I will receive the ban hammer, so if that happens -- I get banned for speaking my mind on a fan board...it's been real y'all.

When did he refer to Iowa fans as losers?

There will always be a subset of Hawkeyes who take pride in not caring about the future. And dumb enough to brag about it.

There's a 3rd group though. I love the Hawks and care about the future but I refuse to go into a schizo rage about it. my kid has too much fun rooting for the Hawks at games with me (win or lose) for me to turn into a miserable bastard.

He was calling the people that were negatively tweeting Eno Losers.....and they are. If you want to send an encouraging word, fine. If you want to be a dumbass and send something negative, keep it to yourself.

Oh. I do not have a twitter account. I do not have a face book page. Twitter is trouble.

I just thought it was weird in the podcast that Jon was making fun of fans for being so over reactionary wanting to fire Kirk and "whoa is me" when things don't go good, then he says that was him two years ago. You really want to make fun of fans for acting like you did two years ago? It was only two years ago. It's not like he "grew up" 20 years ago and now talks about how dumb kids are these days.

I'm not happy with the season but with recruiting its a complete crap shoot. Is eno great? Maybe but if he can't follow the rules and communicate maybe we don't want him. I wish him best of luck but let's move on and find another stud. I like our other rb and hope we land some good guys. Losing Calloway sucks too, but he wasn't staying anyway. The pathetic showing this year should be on Kirk. This stuff with kids isn't a huge thing. I'd rather dump this kid now and find a solid player that won't jump ship late in the process. Just my thoughts.

Yes!

Well said Okst. I knew people were going to be upset, but man some are losing their ever loving Mind over this.

Correct 3 groups

1) Miserable Bastard group that believes in accountability - That's my group.:)

2) The status quo cult-of-personality group - A.K.A. The Holier-than-thou internet ninjas :)

3) The spineless let's-play-the-violin while Rome burns group - That would be yours.:)

Isn't freedom of choice just awesome. God bless the USA.:)

It's not the end of the world or a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but as an Iowa football fan it pisses me off that we're pulling our best recruits offers just because they visited another school. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo that's recruiting. We don't have the prestige to justify that arrogance. It's just another reason to get rid of Ferentz as far as I'm concerned. There is very little hope for this program as long as Ferentz is at the helm.
